Der Alpenhof Maria Alm in Maria Alm

First time skiing and first time in Maria alm. When we arrived it was like turning up at someone’s house who had unruly children. They were running around the reception lobby area and it was very noisy. No parents in sight. The host appeared and greeted us but didn’t understand english. She gave us our keys and pointed to the lift with no other conversation or explaining about the facilities. Was expected ting to find information leaflet in the room about the amenities or local area but nothing. The room was nice with a balcony but overlooked the street and opposite bar which started playing very loud music every afternoon from about 3pm onwards and even with windows and doors closed it was loud enough and not easy if you wanted a nap before heading out in the evening. Kids were running up and down corridor playing knock down ginger at our door and trying the handle then running away. Never seen such badly behaved kids in a hotel before and parents just let them run riot !! Breakfast was vast selection of hot and cold choices and table was laid with our name which was a nice touch. Didn’t eat in restaurant because the hotel was too noisy and chaotic and needed to go explore and eat in peace. The room had no facilities to make tea or coffee so had to ask for a kettle. But ended up not using as the coffee provided was filtered not instant. Brought our own toiletries but noticed no complimentary shower or shampoo etc were provided .. after returning from evening out no one in bar and to find someone to get us a drink. Overall fine as family stay but if you want some peace and quiet avoid this hotel
