Fortuna Boutique Hotel in Gabala

The people working are very kind and nice. I cannot wait to see what this place looks like when the restaurant is fully functional, all of the construction stops and is cleaned up , and the rooms get some much needed love, care, deep cleaning and repairs. I will definitely consider rebooking here in a year or so to see how they have brought the property more into sync with the image they advertise online. We were only able to stay one day out of the planned 5, but the staff on site was very kind during the short time we stayed. Also, the breakfast was wonderful. It included bread, local jams and honey and cheese, and one omelette. Thank you!! Despite the wonderful staff we ultimately vacated the premises the day after check in and moved to a hotel at our own cost. Since our cancellation was within 7 days neither the property owner, nor booking.com could help is obtaining a refund even though the property was not quite to our standard. Also, the staff will likely (in his own language) try to convince you to use cash even though they advertise that they accept card payments. They used my use of a credit card as an excuse as to why I could not get a refund for the 4 unused days. The staff on site very politely told me that they have no access or control over their banking and could not offer a refund for a payment given via card.

Lastly, the rooms were cold with heat maxed out. There is only one heater in the villa. The radiators in each room either felt cold or produced very little heat. I complained about this and was not answered.

Once again the staff was really nice and attempted to be accommodating with what they had.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The rooms were dirty, and I even found spiders inside the room, which was unacceptable.

There seems to be no proper hotel management — during our 5-day stay, there was no room service at all. Everything from reception to luggage was being handled by a single person named Aldar, who tried his best but clearly cannot run an entire hotel alone.

The rooftop area was another let-down. The photos online look nice, but in reality it was ugly and nothing like the pictures.

Overall, the property is poorly managed, misleading in its presentation, and lacks the most basic standards of cleanliness and service. I would not recommend staying here.
