Hidden gem
It was a pleasant surprise, I did not know Aalst and was looking for a hotel near Affligem. it is really easy to travel from Aalst without the traffic from Brussels or Antwerp.
it is a 3 star hotel with 4 star quality. The personnel is really nice and looking after you. The rooms are really spacious and comfortable, nice decoration and some state of the art tech in the rest room. They have a newly opened gastronomic restaurant, which was the best surprise as I was not expecting this but rather more a brasserie type of restaurant. Wine and food were excellent.

The Hotel Royal Astrid in Aalst is centrally location in about 10 minutes walking distance from the main square where many restaurants can be found. We were warmly welcomed by an attentive and good humoured host. The rooms are sufficient in size, newly furbished, clean and comfortable. The room giving on the backside of the hotel was quiet. The breakfast buffet is well garnished with hot and cold breakfast items. Wifi was fast and reliable with good coverage. Nice bar area in the lobby. Possibility to park the car behind the hotel in a public parking lot where there is no charge from 07.00 PM to 09.00 AM, thereafter € 1.- / hour with a maximum of € 4.- / day. Hard to find any problematic points. Except that the ventilation in the bathroom was too weak.

We truly enjoyed our three days here. Clean and cozy and well appointed with a good breakfast. Owners are magnificent and always in good spirits no matter the challenges. I highly recommend. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms well appointed.

Great stay!
Wendy was AMAZING! She greeted our group and took the time to explain everything more than once (we had a large group) for everyone. She even recognized us on the street later and asked us how our trip was going. The room was large and clean.
