Anelia Family Hotel in Kavarna

The rooms are decent in size and clean.

The biggest problem with the hotel is that the water smells like sulfur (rotten eggs) making any showers or washing clothes nearly impossible

With low effort from the owners this place could be a lot better.

The main issues are with the smell on the hallway, the overall cleanliness and the gross sanitary areas.

- the AC unit is full of mold: we didn’t use it during our stay due to health hazards; we had to endure tropical nighttime temperatures.
- the bathroom tap and shower are old and gross looking; we had to brush our teeth with bottled water, again due to health hazards.
- there is no shower curtain and the mop was dirty as well so we didn’t have the courage to use it.
- there is a strong smell of mold on the hallway; I suspect it’s because the windows can’t be opened.
- also the bathroom either smells of sewer or mold.
- once you remove the pillow bedsheets you notice they are stained; we didn’t have the courage to check further.

If the owners would change the bathroom utilities with the cheapest things they can find (cost ~20euros/room), clean the AC with bleach (lots of advices online on how to do it) + paint the walls white it would most probably deserve 3 stars.

The lady at the entrance was always kind and we could understand each other even though there was a clear English language barrier.

After he showed us a room and we decided to book it, he snuck under the counter and canceled the room on the booking. Specifically, I did not have a reservation on booking but there were free rooms. He later deleted them all. Shame!
