Rooms are dated but clean, comfortable beds and bedding changed weekly. Evening meals were delicious. Breakfast was a continental but they would cook you eggs any way you wanted and bacon, sausage on request. Location was the best, at the end of the street you could turn right for the shops, bar and the Old Town, left to the beach

Family Hotel Flora, Nessibar, Bulgaria DONT TOUCH THIS HOTEL WITH A BARGEPOLE Over the past 54 years my wife and I have travelled extensively, and consider that this hotel to be by far the worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune to stay at. The hotel is managed by two elderly people, neither who can speak much English, and are the only people working in the hotel. No other staff is employed to run the hotel, clean rooms, provide meals, upkeep and maintain the hotel, and who can speak only a few words of English. Apart from availability at breakfast, the management were never readily available for queries, lack of cleaning in rooms also suffered due to lack of staff. In fact our room was only cleaned 4 times during our 7 nights, and not to a satisfactory level. There are no safe deposit boxes in rooms or a strong room available for hotel guests. For a fee you are provided with a paper bag to put your belongings in, i.e. passports, currency, flight tickets, credit cards, which are then placed in one safe, which nobody has seen, in a room where one of the management apparently sleeps. This we found concerning, as on three occasions I passed the door to ‘the safe’ when nobody was inside, and a complete set of keys were still in the keyhole of the door. When we required our belongings from the safe we could not find any management, and on the day before our departure we had to contact our Balkans rep to contact them, as neither of them were on the premises, so that they would return to the hotel and return our belongings. Earlier we had seen one of the managers two streets away sitting on a bench with friends. We had also returned to the hotel one day and found it totally locked up. Breakfast was minimal to say the least, with no choice given at all. There was no fruit juice, coffee was given as only one cup, half a cup at that, and the food offered was four slices of toast with packs of butter, a few slices of processed cheese and a few of processed ham. Some minimal fruit was offered and only one choice of cereal in a plastic container which apparently, from the other guests who tried them, said they were soft and stale. Although our last morning required us to leave very early, no arrangement was made for any sort of breakfast at all. The rooms were fairly spacious, but were badly in need of upkeep. We found white dust appearing on our suitcases which appeared to be from flaking paint on the walls. The air conditioning units appeared to be falling to pieces, there were dangerous spikes coming from the wall, and electric sockets that were loose. Our bathroom sink tap dripped badly and there was no plug for the sink. We were also disturbed at night by an intermittent noise which sounded like a faulty air conditioning unit which the management just told us no other guests had heard it, or complained about it, and made to attempt to find the fault at all. We were on the 3rd floor, the hotel had no lifts and when we requested somebody to

What a dump, don't book this " Hotel " it is not a Hotel not even a Hostal. Dim lit road, with people living in a garage & a run down house next to it. Didn't feel safe on the night time, walking home. Filthy rooms, a couple brought white slippers, they had to throw them at the end of 2 weeks, as they where black with muck, no cleaning done. If you want a non smoking place - forget it, - the cleaner who doesn't clean is a chain smoker, especially in the dining area, disgusting. Breakfast - cats wandering round on the chairs and tables. Rooms stuck in a time warp - 70'S Decor. I wish I had read the reviews on here before I booked, please don't make the mistake I did, there are better Hotels in Nessebar, and cheaper.

Just finishing a lovely two week holiday and as usual loved our stay at the Hotel Flora. We love staying in this Bulgarian family-run small hotel where Angel will do his utmost to look after you. New curtains and bedding and TV have made it even nicer and the vase of roses taken from the garden was a lovely touch. This hotel is individual rather than the typical large four star hotels which I feel are very impersonal. Located near to shops and the beach so couldn’t ask for more. Will be here again in August - can’t wait

I didn’t expect 4 star luxury but I did expect clean. Our room was quite big but basic The fridge was damaged so no freezer compartment. The TV was tiny with a very poor picture. Wi-fi wasn’t available in the room. Room service hardly existed; in fact the bin wasn’t emptied every day and linen was tired and hardly ever changed during the two weeks we were there. Breakfast was adequate. I felt that the proprietor just wasn’t up to the job and the lady who seemed to have to do everything wasn’t physically able to do what was expected of her. She complained of debilitating back pain. The Balkan rep. was unhelpful and dismissive. She made no attempt to contact us and refused to explain. I have complained to Balkan holidays. Responding to my comments about the dirty room and bathroom, they actually said “It was only 2 star rated”. I think that tells you everything.

AVOID THIS HOTEL ,THIS IS NO HOLIDAY!!! IT’S A COMPLETE AND UTTER DUMP!!!!!! Unfortunately my husband and I booked a two week stay,it was a complete waste of money and an endurance. Put in a filthy room on the fourth floor, lights went off when between floors,so dangerous. No smoking hotel???? Cigarette burns in our sheets,so called cleaner seldom seen without a cigarette, including when serving breakfast Breakfast was disgusting & no service whatsoever! Balkan rep didn’t want to know,we were completely abandoned. Room not cleaned, towels changed once & bed not made or changed in the two weeks we were there. Balkan holidays are as bad as their rep !!YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!! NESSEBAR OLD TOWN IS BEAUTIFUL. JUST FIND A BETTER HOTEL

Do not book the Flora. Dirty hotel, room not cleaned once in 2 weeks, beds made twice changed once.Unable to get through to the owner as english very very basic.Breakfast orders sometimes right sometimes wrong. The cleaner come housekeeper very tempremental, speak one day not the next. No help from balkan holidays rep as she would not go to the hotel because she said she was sick of having rows with the owner.Ordered breakfast pack for morning of day trip but when i went to pick it up there was no sign of the owner ,who the following day swore blind he was waiting for me.As i say english was non existent so to argue was a waste of breath.Have tried to get some sort of compensation from Balkan but that is like talking to the owner,. flogging a dead horse, AS i said before do not book this hotel and do not use Balkan

Hotel Flora is a great value, no frills type of establishment. The owners, Angel and Vania are lovely and speak basic English. Angel was super helpful with bags when we arrived, both very obliging and kind. The hotel clean and basic, nice continental breakfast with a cooked option if requested, located between two nice beaches, you do get what you pay for and this was super cheap. It was a nice change from the mega busy package holiday hotels. Super quiet and no screaming kids. The hotel seems to have a loyal following of late season retirees that return each year. I would be happy to return.

We arrived at the hotel Flora in the early hours the owner helped us to the room with our cases. There are no lifts so not suitable if relying on a lift. Room basic and clean maybe could be updated but we were not there for the decor. The hotel is situated down a residential street very quiet and peaceful, unfortunately no car parking. Breakfast usual continental breakfast cold meats bread fruit cereal. You can have bacon and eggs if you ask. No swimming pool a small terrace could do with some more umbrellas and longer with cushions, however only 5 min walk to beach. Janet supermarket 2 min walk and 2 mins to restaurants. Owner does not speak a lot of English but we got by very friendly nothing to much trouble. If you are looking for luxury posh decor swimming pool and night life this would not be for you. If you want a base to explore Nessebar that is quiet comfy and clean close to shops and 20 min walk into old town Nessebar this is perfect
