Great View, But Service Fell Short. The view of Veliko Tarnovo from the hotel is stunning, definitely the highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the room itself was standard, there's nothing special and the sound insulation was poor. We could hear guests in the hallway and neighboring rooms, and some people smoked and talked loudly on their balconies well past midnight. At one point, we even smelled...

Waiters should be more attentive to guest's needs. Since last year, the menu became very basic with only very few bulgarian dishes. They count more for the view than for the food quality.

Room was clean first and foremost, the first guy on arrival was polite and helpful, even gave us a map of places to visit, never had dinner there but breakfast was lovely, continental breakfast on the day we left was lovely too with everything nice and fresh ,bed was decent too, I read reviews mentioning furniture etc,yes it is cheap but it's a reasonably priced hotel and situated in the park, loads...

The restraunt is to die for, if you are from an expensive country like mine. The prices are high for someone around the local area though.

It was listed as a 4 STAR HOTEL, but the room we were given was 2 star with a bathroom that had 10 square ft area, that had the sink, a toilet and a shower-head in it...we asked for another room but were told that because of a wedding there are no rooms available. So we paid for a 4 star room and slept in a 2 star one, with spiders in the room.

This hotel is cool- the walls are carpetted and each room has it's own subtle/fun animal theme that matches the wall carpet outside the room, inside the room, and on the room key. Old hotel, communist atmosphere, but has the best located from Veliko. I observed the cleaning which was perfect. My room was small and a tiny bed, didn t thought will be so from the pics before reserving. Also my friends had a double room but again, 2 single beds like mine. No safe box in room. Great location and amazing views from the restaurant. Rooms are spacious, but there was a dusty smell and the AC needs better cleaning. Breakfast was ok but could be improved. Unfortunately, we only found out at check-in that the spa was closed for renovation, which was disappointing.

The hotel has a stunning view and it is located in the old center of the city. The rooms are clean but because of the ventilation smells like old. The breakfast is a minus.

The hotel's location is great as it is near the main shopping street and craft street. It was also right beside the area where the new year's eve concert and fireworks were held.

Spacious rooms with a great location, but the air in the rooms is very damp. Combined with the fact that the air conditioning typically doesn't work, and it can be very hard to sleep at night.

Decent, but how other people pointed out, this is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Kind a communist decorated. The breakfast was decent. The location is pretty close to the center but the area is kind of steep and if you have a big car you will have a tough tine parking in their indoor garage. Amazing! Nice hotel, cozy and has a private jacuzzi and sauna. The jacuzzi is initially set at 38-39 degrees, you can adjust it. I recommend this room. The location is very good.

The hotel is located on the main street, is clean with friendly staff. The room was big enough and well equipped. Not really 5 stars, but the personnel is very nice, food is good, the room was ok and the sauna the same. They need to improve a bit some small details but I give 5 for encouragement. There's a nice playground that looks awesome in the night with the green light 💚. The location is far from the center but Like that it is near the forest.

The service, the rooms, the restaurant, the spa exceeded our expectations. The hotel is very modern, the bathrooms are gorgeous and the beds and sheets very comfortable. The full breakfast (hot and continental) is delicious. Bathrobes are available for rent at reception (7 leva) and they provide slippers and towels too. The cost/performance ratio is totally on point, must recommend!

We have stayed here twice before, but sadly, on this occasion, it was really disappointing. The apartment was amazing, clean and spacious with a lovely balcony. BUT the food was not as good as usual, maybe because they were so busy. The pool did not seem to be very clean, with an oil slick of sun cream from people not taking showers before entering.

We had a lovely stay. There isn't one thing I can complain about this hotel. The food is great, the prices are very affordable and the rooms were tidy and very clean. I even forgot my bathing suit and they were super nice to offer to ship it to me.

Tried only the restaurant. The food is good, prices - 👍. The atmosphere is fantastic. There was live music 🎶 on Saturday evening as well as some fireworks. Beautiful garden with bunnies, peacock, pigeons. Kids loved it!

The hotel is good, camera is clean and nice. The atmosphere is fresh and relaxed. The restaurant however is a different problem. I don't know who is handling the restaurant but the staff there looks like they wish they didn't work there.

This was perfectly located in the centre of gorna, all my business was in that town. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were (although basic) just what was needed after a long journey.

A good place to stay with big room and bath with tub. Also, the room was clean. Access to upper floors is done with the elevator. Hotel restaurant is available, and breakfast is included. And one downside can be the lack of a mini fridge. The biggest downside is the city that is limited on what you can do but if you have a car or you can rent one the place becomes very attractive.

Very charming, centrally located and affordable hotel. The front desk clerk was also the waiter and the porter. Unfortunately, our room was on the 5th floor of a walk up with a winding staircase and no elevator. The bathtub was high and difficult to get into and there was no shower curtain. This is a wonderfully atmospheric hotel in the heart of the old town of Veliko Tarnovo. It has a cosy fire in the restaurant / breakfast room below (in March), spacious rooms and great views across the old town, down into the river valley and across to the Asen Monument. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was generous. Thoroughly recommended.

This is located overlooking the river in Veliko Tarnovo, providing excellent bird watching. The rooms were clean, quiet and cozy. The breakfast was amazing, so fresh and delicious. I loved the omelets. The staff was lovely and so kind.We really enjoyed our visit and hope to visit again.

My wife and I have stayed here several times over several years. It is always a delight with a wonderful host family and cozy rooms. Out most recent stay was in the house attached to the hotel. It was just as nice as the hotel. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Gurko when in Veliko Tarnovo.

Do not expect a Hilton or a Marriott. No shower curtain, hand held shower spray only. New bathroom fixtures. No soup on dinner menu. Unsanitary electric tea kettle and coffee maker. Comfortable bed, HVAC works. Prepare to be served a massive breakfast one person could never consume. Owner does not take no for an answer. Delicious food. Tap water not recommended in Veliko Tarnovo.

River views and old lanes within walking reach. The room is clean and cozy, and at night I sit on the balcony watching the old town lights. Homemade breakfast with local jams and cheeses. Helpful staff for directions and taxis. A comfortable base to explore at an easy pace.

Only the parking in hotel is a bit dificult - small and narow street

My husband and I are really pleased with Real hotel in Veliko Turnovo. It's a cozy and stylish hotel with large rooms located at an excellent spot in the town. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, while the rooms are nice and clean. And last but least they offer a parking spot which is really a luxury in Veliko Turnovo.

Our family loves Veliko Tarnovo, so we decided to visit for the city festival. We stayed two days in Hotel Real. We chose the hotel because of the amazing location, attainable price and the spacious rooms. I don't take much space, neither out 5-years old child, but my husband is 205 cm. and it is always a struggle to find a room with comfortable bed, and enough shower space. The hotel has a great location, making it easy to get around the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. However, the beds were not very comfortable. Also, parking space is limited, so it might be a problem if you’re traveling by car.

The hotel is clean, well situated,near to the main attractions by walking (20 minutes). The room is big and so is the bathroom. We had a problem with the toilet running water all the time, which I consider is a waste of water and they must take it more seriously. Minibar has accessible prices, although we didn't use it. This was a well situated hotel, decor was very 70s. Beds comfy. Parking isn't fabulous even though we were told we could park outside. But it was a public holiday when we were there. Receptionist was very helpful. And the bathroom even had bath salts.

Large, clean, warm rooms, everything perfectly functional, daily cleaning, friendly staff, good and sufficient food. Large beds, mattresses with medium firmness, pillows as well. We had a short stay here, but it is a really nice place. Clean room, delicious breakfast and great hosts. The terrace where breakfast is served is so beautiful. There are some thin walls and a bathroom mat would be recommended to avoid slippery. Really recommend this place first of all for its hosts.

A very nice small hotel. I found it on a booking site then we stopped by to see a room when we arrived in town. The location is great and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The desk is staffed from 7am-10pm which was so nice since many small hotels don't have a manned front desk these days. We needed to get a taxi to the train station at 6:30am when we left and a staff member was there waiting...

Our stay here was short, but really good. The rooms are clean and big, nothing fancy. If you waant fancy go to a 5 star hotel. Is bassically down Town, close to a lot of good restaurants and bars. The staff is really friendly and they help you with what to bot miss around this pretty cute little Town.

From the entrance it doesn't look like much but there is a beautiful rooftop garden hidden upstairs. The rooms are older, but clean. The people at the reception were extremely nice and helpful. There's no hotel parking but they helped us find a place to park.

Very nice location, in the centre of the cit. I stayed with my family of 4 in a 4th floor room. The room was small but very clean, the beds very confortabile, the terrace view absolutly breathtaking. It is not a luxury hotel, but perfect for a few days stay. The host is a really nice man, very opend and friendly. They also have parking witch is a big plus believe me I enjoyed my stay there.

Perfect hotel if you are looking for a quiet place in the city centre! Amazing view from the balcony/windows where you can see the two Fortresses of the city. The owner is such a lovely person, he makes you feel welcome from the very first moment! Rooms and bathrooms were clean and we had functioning fridges and heaters. Recommended!! The view from the rooms is just magnificent, I'll definitely recommend to pay a little extra to rent the apartment or take one of the room on the upper floors. The host is also super nice and helpful 🙂
