Reviews
I do like the location because it's in downtown Veliko, walking distance to the shops and restaurants, few minutes away from the fortress also, but it's very noisy on the front side and there's no view. The quiet rooms with the view are on the other side, those are probably better.
The services and the rooms were something below the lowest of expectations.
First of all, when booking the rooms, i asked them (if possible) to put a flower bouquet and a happy birthday note (payed service) in one of them, because it was my mother's birthday and it would have been a cute surprise.
I didn't get a response so i figured it's something solvable. It wasn't.They could have said no, it wouldn't have been a problem. But probably it was too much of an effort to respond.
The check in was quick, also good thing they have a parking lot in front of the hotel.
My mother's room was a tiny bit better and cleaner, but i had to ask the receptionist to change mine.
The rooms being outdated it's the tiniest of the problems.Mine was incredibly dusty, the curtains didn't cover the windows, and the "air conditioning" (if i can call it that way) wasn't doing any good.It was old, moldy and not working properly. When talking to the receptionists, they were looking at me like i was delusional, with a smirk and a very superior attitude.
They agreed to change the room, and in the new one indeed the "air conditioning" machine worked a bit better and the curtains were covering the windows.
But the same dusty stained carpet (i did not have the courage to walk barefoot), the same moldy machine, ripped and dirty curtains, the tiniest bathroom with no type of separation whatsoever between the shower and the rest of it, so everytime i was showering i was getting everything wet; and many many other small details that apparently, for them DO NOT make a difference (dirty wallpaper, old closet painted to look newer, dirty and dusty mosquito nets, old minibar that did not close properly, sticky and dirty tv remote, etc).
The breakfast is lower than average, but acceptable and it's not very rich.I liked the cheese and the tomatoes.
The restaurant looks like a poorly renovated *ommunist location, as the whole hotel.
When i POLITELY asked the waiter, (a short blonde woman) if we could take our plates and eat on the terrace, she pretty much scolded me and my patience ended right there and then.
I started immitating her, gesturing like she was, mirroring her attitude...she seemed pretty shocked and i turned my back and left.
I don't normally do that but i was tired of being treated like a you know what.
After breakfast we took our belongings and left without looking back!
I don't know what is wrong with the whole staff of this hotel, especially when they see you're a nice, respectful person, it's like you're bothering them!
The reason why i chose this hotel in the first place was because i needed 2 available rooms in a very busy weekend and because i wanted a private, secure parking lot to know my car is safe. This was the only one at the time being.
But i DO NOT recommend it , nor will I be returning.
If i had to give a piece of advice : raise the prices (a single room is 68 euro, extremely cheap), but INVEST in this hotel, change the staff and make it 4 stars for real, not just "on paper". The potential is there.
Things than need improving are:
1. Cleanliness of the room, especially the carpet (steam cleaning is needed), bathrooms and the dust (lampshade, windowsills, cupboards-inside and outside). It was very dusty!!!!!! Please make sure that you clean the rooms before accommodating the customer.
2. Some of the bathrooms need improving - my shower room needed unblocking.
Others are very small, or the bathtub is so small that you can not even have a proper shower. Having shower is very important, especially during COVID. Do you change the shower curtain after every new customer??????
3. No tea facilities in the rooms, just in the VIP and the president’s one.
Otherwise everything else was fine.
