Soon Noeng Resort in Koh Rong Island

Nice little resort located right on the beach on a beautiful island.

Bit of a mixed bag at this place but with some easy tweaks it could be perfection.

Good : Location, beach is clean, food is tasty, bar prices are good and Nas the bar manager makes a great cocktail, breakfast is plentiful and varied, pool is clean, sun beds, towels and paddleboards are available. Bioluminescence plankton is visible but you have to swim out away from the bright resort lights.

Bad : Room type Beach View Villa - Lots of mosquitos in the room as the bathroom is not sealed, would be good if they gave you a net for the bed and room spray as I got badly bitten overnight. Wifi is really bad, you only have 1 plug socket for the entire room which isn't next to the bed, the lights are either all on or all off (the wall lights are decoration apparently so aren't wired up) and again the switch isn't near the bed, and you have nowhere to hang clothes or swim wear to dry, a line or rack would be really useful.
Basically without tweaks the beachfront villa are overpriced.

The staff were incredibly helpful when trying to resolve issues. I would return but would book a Sea View Room which are slightly cheaper, sealed and had great WiFi.

My family stayed here on recommendation and absolutely loved it!! Beautiful beach, pool, and island life.

Max the manager was extremely friendly and helpful. Before we even arrived he helped us with arranging things and gave useful tips for our trip. All the staff was kind and helpful.

My only disappointment was it seemed difficult for the staff to stay up with beach towels, but I understand the place was full while we were there. The bathroom was also not great, but appropriate for a beach front hotel.

The free stand up paddle boards and volleyball/badminton nets are fun (wish they had a ball though)

Overall, a pretty nice resort on a Cambodian island. While the employees can be a little slow and inattentive, they get the job done. Breakfast is ok and the food is pretty good. My room was clean and reasonably comfortable. If you want to go somewhere and sit on the beach and have drinks, this place is ideal - calm atmosphere, comfortable beach chairs, and beautiful ocean. The resort is on one end of a large beach and you can walk 20-30 minutes down to a store and a few other establishments. This place also has a good pool that is surprisingly deep. I was there by myself, but I think it’s best for families or couples (there were other single people at the resort and on the beach). I would have no problems staying here again.

Great location with a brand new pool as well. Double price on beers then anywhere else on the island. Quite a few mosquitoes in the villas and staff can not see the shelves when cleaning but we could see all the dead mosquitoes .

Magnificent place, with available and smiling staff. A little paradise for a few days of decompression.

Beautiful island hotel with an excellent atmosphere. The service is outstanding: attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The rooms are clean and well maintained, everything feels fresh and thoughtfully organized.

The only minor downside is that the beds are a bit uncomfortable. Aside from this, everything is at a very high level, and the overall experience is excellent.

The hotel is close to the pier, so you don’t need to go anywhere from there. The hotel has different kinds of rooms, we stayed in a sea view villa which had a nice view. However I didn’t like the interior and the bathroom. Bathroom has a window in the roof which is not covered and geckos and insects can come in without any difficulty. When you finish taking a shower, water stays on the floor for a very long time.
The hotel has sunbeds and it’s nice that you can have a rest in front of your villa, that’s what I liked the most. Breakfast is limited in food choices: eggs, rice, vegetables, noodles, toasts and fruits - everyday it is the same, quite boring.
There is almost nothing around the hotel, even if you want to buy some water after 23:00 you can’t do it. The nearest hotel is closed, the reception of this hotel is closed too. A walk to the closest shop is 20 minutes by the beach
