Golden Star Inn in Sihanoukville

Bad service and noisy hotel. They let other cars park and block your car too.

Not a budget hotel and noisy. Seems like the hotel management does not care about this because most of the noise is inside the hotel. The guard will scratch your car when holding the umbrella during raining season. He just don't care! The reception is bad and they don't care about customers and do not stay here if you are working because they park the cars behind your car and you have to wait half an hour to get out!

Overall an okay hotel, however there are a number of glaring issues which I'll list below:

1. There are no less than 2 construction projects going on literally just next door to the hotel. And they begin early in the morning using power tools and heavy machinery. Additionally, there seems to be no less than 15 dogs within 200m of the hotel and lemme tell you they loooove to talk to each other. All. The. Time. And of course the hotel has no soundproofing so good luck sleeping past 8am after an all night bender.

2. The location is kind of awful. It's far from all the beaches and even the main roads. Though there is a constant Tuktuk presence so that problem is somewhat alleviated. The only bar within reasonable walking distance is a scummy establishment called The Missing Monkey or something or other, and it is populated exclusively by scummy 50-70 year old men who moved to SE Asia for sex tourism. Gross.

3. Despite there being a kitchen literally visible from the front desk, there is no room service or food available. At all.

4. The staff are a HUGE issue.
-Room service ladies are chatting up a storm at all hours, including early in the morning. Nearly as bad as all the construction going on next door.
- The proprietor of the hotel is not somebody who should ever work in hospitality. He doesn't speak much, isn't at all polite, and walks around with his baby on his shoulder ALL the time. Seriously dude, get a nanny, and learn to be a good host.
-The average English level is well below average for Cambodia. Minus a few exceptions, they are completely unable to communicate even the most basic of things.

Some good things are:
1. Reasonably cheap.
2. The hotel overall is clean and well kept and is reasonably modern looking.
3. A/C works well.

If at all possible, find another place. This place is not an establishment I'll be returning to.
