Reviews
The bathtub was big and the shower was great also.
The hotel pool and bar are incredible also. Pool is huge and generally was very quiet when we were there. Water is clean and temperature perfect. Pool bar is also great.
If there’s any tours you need, they offer everything. They arranged all of our tuk tuks into town each night and also arranged our tours to the temples. Prices were great so there is no need at all to book these in advance of your stay.
Lastly, every member of staff we dealt with was friendly, efficient and wonderful to deal with.
Additionally: we initially gave Google a 4, but it's now been downgraded because our review is shown on my wife's page, and everyone else can't see it (Google is very greedy). The pool is fantastic, and the grounds are also very beautiful (but they ruined the experience on the second-to-last day; we didn't want to complain, we didn't want to ruin our nerves).
Unfortunately, the first staff member seemed impatient and spoke to us in a slightly rude, dismissive tone. Both of them then stood there watching us rather intensely while we held the drinks, clearly expecting us to finish quickly. We were the only guests there, so the sense of urgency felt unnecessary and awkward.
We were shown two options: the Family Suite and the Presidential Suite. The “Presidential Suite” turned out to be two small, separate rooms above the lobby that weren’t even connecting, with an open space in front that felt more like a corridor than anything presidential. Honestly, the name felt misleading — it looked like a standard room with fancy branding.
The staff member showing us the room was barefoot. Coming from New Zealand, we’re not strangers to being barefoot, but in a five-star resort it simply felt unprofessional — especially as he walked through the suite with visibly dirty feet.
While looking around the Family Suite, I kept trying to reconcile the glowing reviews I had read online with what I was actually seeing. Unfortunately, the two didn’t match. There were grey and yellow stains on the walls, marks on the curtains, and a sofa whose original colour was hard to guess.
After we were left alone, the friendlier staff member kindly brought us a beautiful fruit platter, which we appreciated. We were extremely hungry, so we decided to head straight to dinner at the hotel restaurant.
At the back of the resort, we found what looked like a restaurant entrance, where a woman stood smiling. When we asked for a table for five, she looked confused and told us to sit. Only then did we realise we were already inside the restaurant — and completely alone.
We soon discovered that the pizza from the online menu was served at a different restaurant, so we moved again. The poolside “restaurant” turned out to be a tiny bar, roughly the size of a bathroom, with no clear sign that food was actually served there. A few empty plastic crates on the side didn’t inspire confidence.
We ordered salads, fries, pizzas, and two mains. After nearly 50 minutes, the first dish arrived: a salad with “French dressing,” which tasted like cold, separated oil. Not great, but we stayed hopeful.
Then came the margherita pizza my daughter and I had been craving. It looked acceptable and hunger won — until the first bite. It had a strong anise/fennel-like flavour that tasted nothing like a classic margherita. When I asked about the herbs, the staff said they used sweet basil and explained that this is how pizza is made here — and “everywhere.” I politely disagreed. Unfortunately, we all left hungry. Only the fries were edible.
When we left, there was just one other couple dining. Every step we took on the wooden deck made loud creaking noises, which made simply walking past them awkward and uncomfortable.
Back in the room, we finally had time to properly look around — and it became clear the cleanliness was far below expectations. The towel placed in front of the bathtub quickly turned grey from footprints. The walls were dirty, the curtains stained, and the bathroom mirror frame had dried toothpaste splashes. Decorative cushions looked long overdue for cleaning, and the floor felt visibly dirty underfoot.
The bathroom had two sinks, but soap was provided at only one of them.
This resort fell far below what we expect from a five-star property. Cleanliness, food quality, and professionalism were simply not there. Sadly, the online reviews did not reflect our experience, and we would not return or recommend it.
The location is quiet and peaceful, about 5 km from downtown. By tuk tuk it takes around 10 minutes and costs about 3 USD, which was perfect for us. You are far away from traffic noise and the main road, yet still well connected. The location is ideal for excursions – Angkor Wat and the Floating Village are both easily accessible from here. Day tours can be booked directly at the hotel, and the staff is always happy to provide helpful information.
The resort is surrounded by nature, very calm and relaxing. The property has a nice size with around 16 villas, which creates a personal atmosphere without mass tourism.
We especially enjoyed the local Khmer restaurant “Mae Ly” on the property, which we tried as well. We had fried rice with egg and vegetables, which was so tasty that we ordered it again, plus grilled chicken. The sauces were delicious, and the food felt fresh and authentic.
There is also a poolside restaurant, where we were even invited by the resort to a 4-course menu. This was a very generous gesture. The food was very tasty, well presented, and the portion sizes were more than sufficient.
The prices for food and drinks are fair and reasonable.
The staff is genuinely friendly, helpful, and attentive. A special mention goes to the hotel manager, who is extremely kind and hands-on. You can see him daily watering the trees and flowers and taking care of the property, which shows real dedication.
The breakfast buffet is sufficient and varied, with hot and cold options. Vegetarian choices are available, and we really appreciated the barista-made coffee.
We were also very grateful for the late check-out, which we received without any issues as our flight was only around 9 p.m. – a big plus and not something to be taken for granted.
In terms of safety, the resort feels very secure. At night, the entrance is closed with a gate, which made us feel comfortable and safe.
Small points for improvement (constructive feedback):
– The toilet seats in the rooms could be replaced, as they look yellowed and quite worn.
– There is no outdoor shower at the pool to rinse off before swimming, which would be a useful addition.
Fact is:
A beautiful, quiet resort surrounded by nature, with excellent service, very good food, fair prices, and a perfect base for sightseeing. With a few small improvements, it would be almost perfect. We would definitely stay here again.
The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, always happy to assist with anything we needed. We loved spending time at the pool and having a massage.
Our room was huge with a super comfy bed. Overall, a wonderful, peaceful stay that offered great value and a perfect base for visiting the area.
Unfortunately, so sad to to report that that food made us sick every time we ate it. First day just stomach aches and the second day minor food poisoning. So eat the food at your own risk. Otherwise, we loved everything else about the place!
the shower room can be more clean , that's wonderful!
