Reviews
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with all the amenities I needed. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was relaxing, and everything felt well-organized and professional.
I truly appreciated the flexibility and excellent customer service. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
A lot of the criticism is fair: the air conditioning is loud, the rooms are small and bathroom is pretty tight. There are more comfortable beds in other hotels.
If you are spending a night or two in the city like I was and it’s just a place to sleep, then I think this place is fine.
Plenty of food options around, 7/11 just across the street, MTR is less than 5 mins away.
Bring your own water and a book to read while waiting for the elevator. Admire the gilt tiled walls and the chandelier.
The hotel was advertised online with gorgeous photos, including a rooftop pool. However, upon arrival, we found out the pool is not even open, which felt misleading and like false advertising.
The room itself was extremely small and stuffy, with barely enough space to move around comfortably. It did not feel like a proper accommodation for the price paid.
The worst issue was a foul smell coming from the sink (located in the bedroom rather than the bathroom) that smelled like rotten eggs. We initially thought the smell would pass and couldn’t immediately identify where it was coming from, it did not pass. When we raised this with staff, they were extremely rude and implied it was our fault for not reporting it earlier, rather than trying to help resolve the issue.
Overall, the experience was unbearable, and we ended up booking another hotel at the Dorsett, which was far better and at a similar price point.
Rundle Ho did not offer any apology for the smell or the condition of the room and showed no willingness to help.. We were unable to obtain even a partial refund for a one-week booking, despite only staying two nights due to how poor the experience was.
Overall, this was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
A few things to keep in mind:
Breakfast: There are very limited options available.
Dietary Restrictions: The hotel itself is strictly not recommended for vegetarians, though there are plenty of vegetarian restaurants nearby.
Service: The staff are super friendly, but the services they offer are somewhat limited.
Ultimately, if you are looking for a spacious and highly comfortable room, this might not be the place for you. However, it is absolutely perfect for backpackers and budget travelers!
Cheers and happy travels!
Editing the rating after completing the stay -
Extremely disappointing stay and far below expectations for a brand like Ramada. When we arrived a few hours before check-in time, we were told we could get early check-in if we left a positive review. Asking guests to post reviews before even experiencing the stay, in exchange for benefits, feels misleading and inappropriate. Despite providing that requested positive review on the spot, we were still asked to wait nearly an hour just to get one room.
The rooms are extremely small, even by Hong Kong standards. You don’t even need to open your luggage to feel it, with two closed suitcases in the room, there is barely any space to move around. There is no proper storage, just a couple of wall hooks on dated wallpaper. Only one power plug point is available in a corner, and that too requires a universal adaptor.
Basic amenities like drinking water, toothbrush, etc. are not provided, with a sign blaming government regulations, which felt more like an excuse than a justification.
The bathroom is extremely cramped. The shower space is barely usable, and the curtain constantly sticks to you, which is quite unpleasant. Even worse, the bathroom door is a sliding one without a proper lock and has a visible gap, which raises serious privacy concerns.
The breakfast experience was equally frustrating. Before arrival, we were told via email that breakfast could be added for $69 + tax at the reception. At check-in, we were told that was not possible, as those were online rates and were instead asked to pay $88 + 10% tax. The restaurant staff were rude, and when we arrived at the restaurant at 9:55 AM (with breakfast ending at 10), we requested something small for our 2-year-old and offered to pay, but were bluntly refused.
The hotel overall feels very old and poorly managed. Despite having four lifts, the wait time was consistently 15–20 minutes.
The only positive was the location, with a few decent convenience stores and cafes nearby.
Overall, a very negative experience with poor service, misleading communication, and uncomfortable facilities. Definitely not recommended.
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
A tip: For guys who order steamed fish, please be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes. This evening, I overheard customers next to me complaining that they had waited for about 45 minutes for their steamed fish.
