Chengdu Chunxi Road Taikoo Li Rezen Select Hotel in Chengdu

This was a truly awful experience. I arrived at the hotel around 5 AM, and after calling out several times, someone finally emerged from a back room, clearly disoriented from sleep. They then told me there were no rooms available. It was obvious they just didn't want to bother. I pointed out that rooms were available online, and they made up an excuse about a specific room type being unavailable. I asked if they had even bothered to ask me what room type I needed. With no further excuses, I asked if I could check in early since rooms were available. They said no. I explained I had just gotten off a flight with a child and asked if they could make an exception, as it was less than half an hour until official check-in. I even offered to give them my ID and come back in half an hour to complete the registration, but still no. While I can understand that hotels have their rules, and I myself work in hotel management, I genuinely found the service terrible. They assigned me an end-of-hallway room with no elevator, and the corridor door to that room was wide open. The room hygiene was also very poor; there was still an eyelash sticker from the previous guest on the mirror, not to mention all the other uncleaned corners. I was too tired from the flight and didn't want to argue with the front desk. I also had to take my child to a concert that night, so I just put up with it for one night. As someone in the service industry, I rarely make things difficult for fellow industry workers, let alone leave a bad review. But for this, I absolutely must; it was just that bad. After checking out, I even received a follow-up call asking for a good review, and I frankly shared my terrible experience. There was no apology whatsoever. In short, it was just awful. Avoid this place! The hotel owner should really be aware of this; such an employee shouldn't be kept. It's tough running a hotel these days, and to just say there are no rooms because they don't want to serve someone is just speechless. This is a personal character issue.
