Holiday Village Valle in Utsjoki

Very quiet and comfortable little hotel. We booked this for our Aurora chasing. The hotel location is very nice we can see faint Aurora outside our rooms but we manage to catch really awesome ones 10mins drive from our hotel. O

Spotless clean and new rooms and cottages. I had a very comfortable one week stay here in one of their cottages. The view to the Tana river and to the big hill on the Norwegian side of the river is truly beautiful especially from the cottage terraces.

Potential guests should note that Valle's cottages have everything included - bedclothes, toiletries (soap/shampoo, towels, toilet paper) and final cleaning are all included in the price. This is unlike many other Finnish cottages where you need to bring and do this yourself.

It's a wonderful, authentic yet modern spot here in Utsjoki. Very personal and welcoming. Unlike the large resorts, here you live in harmony with nature. Wonderful!

Saw the aurora from our window! This place was the best choice to see nothern lights. We paid for transfer from ivalo Airport and left in the daily bus, both good options for different budget types. The room was nice, cozy and spacious. We rested well in the comfy bed, shower was also nice and hot. We liked the breakfast in the restaurant and also had all our 4 day meals there, trying one different dish per day. The mushroom soup and the reindeer stew are the best in my opinion. Everyone was nice to us, we rented clothes and used to explore the region on foot (beautiful landscape, by far the most beautiful we had chasing auroras in lapland). At night, we saw our first aurora at 4am (30min only) and the second from 2am- onwards. I used the Aurora app to track when the sky was clear, and having the privilege of checking the aurora from our window was amazing, giving that it appeared in the middle of the night on very cold days. Once we saw the aurora from the room, we would just go outside to check it out the whole sky. Would definitely recommend renting snow shoes during the day and walking around in this peaceful place. The place is 2km from the city, so not a lot of options to eat without a car (but we loved the restaurant)

We watched the Aurora here from the warmth and comfort of our own room's window! A wooden tour next door has fantastic panoramic views of the Aurora and the bridge to Norway. The Aurora went on for several hours every night. It was a mind-blowing festival of lights! The staff was excellent, helpful, warm, and kind. Breakfast was candlelit with plant-based options and a lovely view of the frozen river Teno that borders Norway and flows into the Arctic Sea. It is a tranquil, peaceful place to watch the Aurora and is of excellent value for money.

I am absolutely thrilled by this beautiful spot on earth! Very nice rooms with a view of the river. I could even see the Northern Lights from the edge of the bed because of the large windows! In the morning, a breakfast buffet was offered with all the usual things like eggs with ham and bread/rolls, cold cuts and cheese, fruit and everything for the muesli. There was also plenty of tea and coffee, with cow's milk or the vegan version. I think I tried everything and found it all very tasty. And then there was this enchanting nature and peaceful silence in the snow. Whether hiking or snowshoeing, husky sleigh rides or reindeer sleigh rides, walking on the frozen river, it was fantastic. Unfortunately, I was only there for a week and I would love to go back there straight away. Big thanks to Majou, Illka ​​and Pertti.
