Junior Suite:surface Area: about 39 m2, lounge, ensuite, double bed, bathroom with shower and bath. Connectivity to the adjoining room.

Duplex:surface Area: about 41 m2, on the ground floor : large living room with a sofa bed, shower room ; on the mezzanine : bedroom with open bathroom.

Our experience with Altapura in Val Thorens has already been exceptional, and we haven’t even arrived yet.

From the very beginning, Anael handled our hotel reservations seamlessly. The entire process was smooth, efficient and incredibly reassuring. Everything was organised perfectly, giving us complete confidence in our stay before we’ve even stepped foot in the hotel.

Leeloo, however, truly went above and beyond in every possible way. During one of the busiest times of the season, when ski lessons everywhere were completely sold out, she simply refused to give up. She followed up relentlessly, explored every possible option and did not stop until she secured lessons for us. That level of dedication is rare. It felt personal, thoughtful and genuinely caring.

She also organised our restaurant tables and helped coordinate multiple details ahead of our arrival, making what could have been a stressful planning process feel effortless.

We’ve already spoken so highly of the hotel to the guests joining us because service like this deserves to be recognised. When the pre-arrival experience is this strong, you just know you’re in exceptional hands.

We genuinely cannot wait to arrive. If this is the standard before check in, we can only imagine what’s to come.

We had a great stay at Altapura. The family room was spacious and comfortable, and the ski-in/ski-out access made everything effortless. The kids club was a great perk, kids enjoyed it. A perfect choice for a family family ski trip.

I recently stayed at this hotel and many aspects of the experience were very enjoyable. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, the staff at check-in and breakfast were friendly, and the amenities — particularly the pool, spa, and gym — are excellent. The ski-in/ski-out location is ideal, and the overall vibe of the property is relaxing and stylish.

That said, there were several service issues that significantly impacted our stay and are important to mention.

On one occasion, our room was not left with towels. We called to request them, and when nothing arrived, we walked to the front desk, where staff were unfortunately unable to provide any towels at that time. After three phone calls, the towels eventually arrived approximately 90 minutes later. While this may seem minor, it was frustrating and disruptive, especially at a hotel of this caliber.

More seriously, during our stay, my AirPods were stolen from the luggage storage room. I noticed they were missing as we were heading to the airport, reported it immediately to the front desk, and asked for assistance and access to any available security footage.

Unfortunately, the hotel’s response to this incident was completely unresponsive. I was told I would be called back, but there was no follow-up communication, and no indication that any investigation was initiated. For what should be treated as a serious issue — theft from a guest’s personal luggage — the lack of action and accountability was both surprising and deeply disappointing.

While I genuinely appreciated many elements of the hotel — the rooms, facilities, and friendliness of some staff — these service lapses, particularly the handling of the theft, make me hesitant to recommend the property without reservation. A stolen item of value and the absence of support from management left a sour note on an otherwise comfortable stay.

In summary: beautiful hotel, great amenities, and a fantastic location — but inconsistent service, slow responsiveness, and concerns around security and management follow-through.

The staff was available 24 hours a day. Very friendly and willing to assist you with your needs. The shuttle drivers were on time and had great suggestions. The ski in ski out access was perfect. The ski shop had great equipment and the locker room made it as easy as you can hope for. The lounge bar was a great place for a night cap and to catch some live music. Breakfast in the morning was top notch.

Amazing amazing amazing, staff were fab, ski lockers UNBELIEVABLE, the free shuttle into the town and back whenever you need it, view from the room 10/10 th Asian restaurant was the best food we ate, we had a birthday and an interest in our Party and the staff surprised us with champagne and a birthday cake, we will be back next year!

Had a fantastic stay at Altapura. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We had dinner at Altayaki one evening which was excellent. We hope to visit again next year.

This is the fourth time staying at this hotel and it has gone right down in quality and service since our last time. We have always been impressed with the service and quality- until now! The carpet in our corridor was filthy and the corridor smelled of boiled cabbage or something worse! The cleaning staff used some sort of carpet freshener later in the week but the smell still lingers. The electrics in our room kept flickering. I don't think our room has been used in a while and we seemed to have been moved there at the last minute as reception had to check if it was ready at 7pm when we arrived! We even had another family's correspondence inviting them to a cocktail evening, left in our room. Our luggage didn't arrive for about 2 hours as we had been given labels with a different room number on it for our luggage and it obviously went to that room first.
The restaurant served amazing food as usual with plenty of choice and the ski instructors are friendly and very knowledgeable. However the room and service leaves a lot to be desired.

We had an amazing 10 nights at Altapura. Very pleased with the service, all of the staff members working there were friendly and welcoming. Thanks especially to Mehdi from the hotel shuttle for sending us around the town and giving great restaurant recommendations. We had a great time because of him and hope to be back soon!

I’ve just booked to return here for the second time with my kids next February 26. I hate trip advisor - I own a bar / restaurant and appreciate customers mainly use it to complain but rarely to compliment! I now ignore my own trip advisor account for this very reason, and we have never been busier (the nice happy customers keep coming back!) I’ve worked in 5 star (SLHW) hotels, and ran a Michelin starred restaurant so feel my opinion on service may count for something. After checking this hotel’s recent reviews (some of the negative short stories surprisingly from the same month I was last there in Feb 25) I felt compelled to leave them a review as I couldn’t disagree more with some of the comments. Hotel is in a fabulous location, bar is cool af, we were more than happy with our Mountain View (I’m not sure the hotel staff are allowed to remove other buildings to provide an uninterrupted Mountain View) Spa was great - kids loved the complimentary hot chocolate pool side. Great gym to keep the fitness up, shuttle service into town was perfect for us - at no point did I fear my or my children’s safety. Room provides a safe for valuables - so if you misplace a wallet not sure this can be blamed or aimed at hotel staff?! Also there is such a thing as ‘Google’ and confirmation emails to establish exact meeting points for 3rd party services - of which there are multiple locations to meet in all ski resorts. Room was cleaned efficiently every day, I’ve never been to a hotel of any level where you can request a specific cleaning time? Breakfast service was great - after 1 day the waiter remembered how I took my coffee and went out of his way to look after us from then on without question. Kids menu perhaps a little pricey but it’s a 5 star hotel high up a mountain so if you expect cheap prices you’re probably in the wrong hotel. In my experience- 25 years of hospitality- if treat service staff as slaves you probably won’t be served as you think you should. Be nice, you’re on holiday! Me and my kids can’t wait to return!
