I updated this review because I was contacted by management and in the end we were able to stay.

Hotel was clean, basic, as described. Both of the staff I spoke to in the morning (reception and cleaner) were friendly and helpful.

The big issue was communication ahead of time was really difficult and I was only able to access the room because of the public complaint below. If you are checking in during the week it would probably be fine, but out of hours (evening or weekend) is tricky!

THIS IS A SCAM

I booked a room via City Residence's own website for this upcoming weekend, and I paid for this.

I then received an email saying that I needed to provide my card details again for a 50 euro deposit in order to access the room, in addition to the booking. I provided my card details, but I was told they did not work. I provided another set of card details and had the same response. Both my cards work and I use them often, including to make the initial payment.

I was told that I cannot receive the room code without providing the deposit. I asked for a refund and was told this is non-refundable. So I have paid for a room, and I will not be able to access it. This is basically a scam - do not book here.

Easy contactless after hourscheck-in, clean room, quiet area, all amenities worked as advertised and decent water pressure in ensuite bathroom. Great price for a location within walking distance of what you're probably visiting Avignon to see (~20 minute walk from Palais des Papes). Would recommend, will stay again if I find myself in Avignon!

Positives:
Stayed in one of the apartments that had everything we needed for a comfortable stay 1 nights stay. The room was well-equipped with a kitchen and bedroom combined in one space, while the bathroom was separate, which was convenient. The kitchen had all the essentials, including a stove top, microwave, fridge, pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery—perfect for preparing meals. A kettle with tea and coffee was also provided. If you need a hairdryer, you have to request it from reception, free of charge. There was also a fan in the room, an extra blanket in the cupboard, and hangers for clothes. The bathroom was clean and came with toilet paper and a small bottle of shower gel, though we preferred to use our own products. Towels and bedside lamps were also provided. The room even had a broom and duster to keep things tidy. The property offers private parking at the back of the building, which was a great plus. Checking in was smooth—upon arrival, we went to reception, where we were given a key and an envelope with all the necessary information in our language. Samuel, the receptionist, was very kind and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. A €50 damage deposit is required at check-in, which you get back if there’s no damage. For check-out, if you leave before the official time, you can simply drop your key in the box at the parking gate. Overall, a good experience with a welcoming atmosphere. Would recommend!

Negatives:
- Towels smelt like curry
- Very small amount of shower gel
- All dishes smelt like egg, including the dish washing liquid and sponge provided
- Bed sunk in but not that bad
- Linen makes you sweat, so make sure you have fan on or window open for comfort

Too many rules, too hot. There is no air con, we forgot to check. The fridge kicks out a lot of heat too, so the room is unbearable in warm weather. You have to empty the bins yourself, otherwise you get fined. You have to wash up completely, otherwise you get fined. If you lock yourself out of your room you get fined. I get that people should clean up after themselves, but this didn't really feel like a hotel after we were given all the rules and regulations. The area isn't great, we didn't feel particularly safe outside. It was at least cheap, and in cooler weather the kitchenette would make it a useful base. Would consider staying again, but only if I was on a tight budget.

Although the staff is very attentive, it's unfortunate that these apartments don't have air conditioning in the 30-degree summer temperatures. You can't keep the windows open because of the noise from the neighbors who live permanently in the complex. They also smoke, causing the smoke to enter the apartment. The area is littered with trash and looks horrible.

Good place to stay for visiting Avignon. Room and bathroom were clean, also the small kitchen with microvawe and stove.

It's a good motel, but 30 minutes walk to the center of Avignon is a bit tight. There were no supermarkets around, so I had a hard time shopping for food. I couldn't use the kitchen enough. On the last day, I found out that I could go to the station by bus No. 4, but it was too late.

Very comfortable and convenient place to stay. Close to city center (10 minutes walking). If you arrive outside if the reception opening hours, they provide clear instructions on how to access parking and rooms.
Room was tidy and fully equipped. Would recommend!!
