Reviews
Our kids loved the pool and the "Wildtiergehege" with Bambis right outside.
The staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
We stayed in a Double room comfort with an extra bed which was perfect with our kids.
The Restaurant had lovely food, service and ambiance.
During our stay we walked a lot, also doing the "Romantik Tour". It was very nice.
Overall a perfect stay.
We will come again.
Regarding breakfast, you shouldn't serve old dry bread, old cakes, sour milk, lukewarm scrambled eggs.
It was terrible and it is a big shame because it is such a nice location and I believe that it has been good in the past but now, it is worse then what we did get the next morning on a hotel in a small town near Puttgarden. That was a success compeard to what you did get here in Niederwald.
Then, when we were about to check out, the receptionist was not at all interested in the person standing in front of him, he didn't have time for his customers. Because of that, there was no talk about them needing to clear the drain because the bathtub got about a foot high of water when you showered.
Well, do it again and do it right. Breakfast is a very important part of the experience and so is your staffs manner against your guests.
This region is full of special places – and one of them is surely the beautifully situated Hunting Lodge Hotel Niederwald, nestled quietly in the forest. The name alone carries a promise that the place fulfills with ease. But it’s not only the setting or the architecture that impresses – it’s what happened here, and what still resonates in the atmosphere today.
Something wonderful took place here: after the Second World War, democracy was reimagined in this very place. It became a site of encounter, diplomacy, and renewal. And when you come here today – not with noise, not with spectacle, but in stillness – you can feel that history beneath the surface. In the rooms, the woods, the air. It’s a gift to be allowed to rest in such a place.
What makes the Hunting Lodge so special today is not only its past – but how it is run. It’s not a faceless hotel operation, not a slick investor project. It’s a house with soul. A family-run hotel, slowly awakened again, with humility and love for the place. No high-gloss polish, no over-designed surfaces. Just an honest, quietly grown home for guests who value precisely that.
And at the heart of it stands not a distant manager, but – yes, it must be said – a queen. Frau Müller. For 25 years. But not a queen on a throne – a queen who sees everything. Who knows everything. Who thinks ahead, carries, supports. From the carefully laid breakfast table to the last light of the evening. From the smallest gesture to the biggest decision. With a far-sighted gaze and both hands in the middle of it all. A role so rarely seen – and even more rarely understood – she fulfills it with dignity, clarity, and true attentiveness.
That is what gives this place its soul. And even though it can hurt to see how easily some guests take it all for granted – how much care, effort, and heart is behind everything here – this remains a place of kindness. Because every day here is carried by commitment. By responsibility. And by the desire to protect something that has become quiet in today’s world: true hospitality.
Outside, fawns leap through the grass. Inside, tables are set – for celebrations, for reunions, for reconciliation. Because that’s why people come here: to celebrate. To reconnect. To come closer to life again. Perhaps to remember how precious connection is. And how rare.
A true family enterprise – in the deepest, most beautiful sense. A place to linger, to reflect, to be grateful. And a place that deserves respect.
Thank you for keeping it alive.
Loved this hotel!!!!! Quality. Wonderful room. Spacious, comfy and quiet. Great pool and sauna. Superb restaurant. Great food and wine. Slightly disappointing breakfast (limited). Awesome area with views and walks. I hope I get the opportunity to stay again.
