Heerens Hotel in Emden

Stayed here because it had the best reviews of all the dog friendly hotel options in Emden.
Arrived at 6pm after a long drive and the hotel was closed, no multi language info on the door to tell us what to do. We had spoken to a member of the hotel staff earlier in the day and said we would arrive about 6pm so it was disappointing not to have been warned what to expect or told what we would need to do. You have to go to a different hotel a little further down the street to check-in/collect keys. This meant the arrival was a bit stressful as it took some time to understand what was going on and then how and where to check-in.
Our room was huge and extremely clean but we were a bit disappointed with the place. The internal hotel entrance and our room was in need of modernising as it felt very tired/dated. Our room was also a disability room and looked like it would be great from someone with mobility issues, however this was less practical for us as it meant there were lots of bars/supports around the toilet, a very low sink and a fixed chair in the shower. Great for anyone who needs it, not great for us.
Due to the hotel & our room not being to our taste we asked to leave a night early when reception opened the next morning, the hotel staff were great and accepted the request.
As advertised this is a 3 star hotel so maybe a little unfair of us to expect somewhere that looked nicer. Definitely cannot fault them on the cleanliness of our room, it was spotless.

Nice old style building with lovely furniture. Very spacious rooms. In a nice part of town.
Room had everything we needed.
Staff were helpful.
