I fell in love with this magical fairy tale hotel when I stayed over for only one night. I had called ahead to ask for a room with a balcony and a bath tub, and from my very first chat with the owner, Peter, on the phone, my friend and I were made to feel warmly welcomed. Tucked away in an idyllic forest setting, the room was brilliantly clean, comfortable, filled with charming details, framed art and prints, interesting books, telephones, complimentary chocolates, fruit, water and coffee and I enjoyed an absolute dream bath! The delicious and spectacular breakfast spread was also very enjoyable. The hospitality, quality and charm I experienced there will stay with me and I hope to return for a longer stay while Peter is still there.

What a great spot the Silbermühle Wald Hotel is, tucked away in the woods at the foot of the Teutoburger forest. The stunning, working water mill is a key feature, as is the mill pond. We have been visiting this restaurant for over 40 years, and it has never disappointed. You get old fashioned supervised service with a smile. The choice of food is excellent, but you have to choose your menu by 4 pm on the afternoon to ensure your table booking. The restaurant stocks beer from the local brewery Straate, with its famous Detmolder Pils and now has a complete range of Straate beers to offer. I chose duck breast for my main course served on a bed of oranges, it was a delightful meal. The ambience, food and service were excellent, and made for a great evening with our friends. Well worth a visit. Top Tip: have 2 x 2 Euro coins available – there is a barrier as you drive through the woods.

The location is beautiful.
The hotel staff is really nice and helpful.
The food at the restaurant is excellent and very varied.
Great wines too!
The beds are super comfortable and the positions of the beds can be adjusted which is a huge plus.
The room has a nice selection of fruits and chocolate.
We really enjoyed our stay and we will be coming back!

Well I would have never visited this place if I read the reviews first. I agree with all the negative reviews. This place does not even deserve a "1", but you cannot go lower. Terrible service and the head(s) of the restaurant had absolutely no desire to do any better. What a pity, because it's a cool location. Only positive note was the Flammkuchen was delicious.

We had a lovely stay after a long hike. Staff are very welcoming and hospitable. The room was more than we expected and very spacious. I look forward to staying again soon.

I love this place. It is very clean and quiet. The decor was history in it self. You can you hiking, and bring your bikes. The trails are challenging. The food was really good. Loved their apple cake. Everyone was very friendly, and the hotel has a playground for the children. The area has various museums to see and be entertained. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to be at.

I was there for drinks and fries with my children. Got a great table at the terrace, the service was a new one, but did everything right and let us have a great day.
