Cozy place to stay
Cozy place to stay, 25 mins walk to a city centre along river Elbe if you like or via streets.
We arrived early, a reception lady tild us our toom was actually ready for us, we were very happy as we wanted go to a city. A lsy at receptionist was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. She recommended us a great place to have a local beer and food, hiddin from main streets and tourists. Check in was super fast.
Our room in 2nd floor was very spacious, so was a bathroom with a bath tub. Our view was to a street shich was very quiet during a night.

BIG WARNING for smokers - big warning about Bernd Joop in Magdeburg:
I had an interesting travel along that part of Germany, wanted to stay in Magdeburg for a night. And I get shocked. That city is another Sin City in Germany. The taxi driver who was driving me from the trein station was telling me about the DDR, the high-end unemployment rate and all the problems of the poor people living there. And we faced a serious incident already when we tried to get fresh boiled eggs in a restaurant together. But this story is about Residenz Joop where I stayd for a night. Yes, I did smoke in the room having the windows open even it was cold. I did not see any ashtree, so used whatever glas for tooth brushing. Next morning I was an early bird to leave, as I am mostly very early standing up 6 am. 2 weeks later I received a letter from this Residence Joop that they claim a damage of 721 Euro because of my smoking in the room during my staying for one night. They seriously took into account that for this reasons they could not rent out the room for a couple of days and so on.
I really feel bad for people living in Magdeburg, but chasing high-profile tourists with 721 Euro heavy bills because of smoking cigarette does not help. They don't live in the real world anymore, they are left in somewhat DDR mentality or whatever. I really need to warn everybody not to spend your money with such strange people. And by the way, my first and legal living place is still Alkmaar, they really sent me their letter to Alkmaar maybe not even knowing that a lawyer chasing me in the Netherlands would cost them maybe more than 721 Euro before such a case comes to a durtch court. My BIG WANRNING about such unrealistic psycho hotel manager called himself Bernd Joop.

All-Round Feel-Good Package ! I was for a couple of day professionally, in Magdeburg, and I must say: a very good Hotel, I have rarely felt so good. Service is Top, rooms, Top, staff Top, Breakfast Top, ... thanks for the hospitality.

The Hotel has its 4 stars. It is not large and the Breakfast was not super extensive but everything is already, if you had something to call. The rooms are not sufficiently large, the state of the device is brand new but in very good condition, the house even has an Elevator and the above-mentioned Breakfast is fresh and sufficient in the selection and the building is located in a beautiful residential district within walking distance from the center. But what is the most important feature: it is a family hotel and it shows. The attention to Detail and especially the friendliness. I have now stayed several times there and there's never been a bad word and special requests on demand is also possible without problems. Most Recommendation!

Varied and rich Breakfast buffet.
Premises and the cleanliness perfect.
Also my partner, with the restriction of "blindness" has never felt so good, because it is for such enterprises is not, of course, to adapt, as we have seen, unfortunately, elsewhere, already feel.
Thus, the only 4 star Hotel in Magdeburg, which is personally run by the owners deserves at least 4 stars.
Clear recommendation from me and my partner. We will come back. (Date 09.06.2013).
ADDENDUM - holiday and new year's eve in Magdeburg from 30.12.2013 to 02.01.2014. As a further evaluation is not possible:
Even after half a year, there is NOTHING to complain about, Therefore we can't understand the poor star rating, without a comment and this also is not serious.
Now we have made up for some of what our 1. Visit to Magdeburg was not possible, since the maximum water level of the Elbe was reached.
We were in the bowling meeting, on the theatre ship, and in the Elbe country house, which is advisable. The bathroom Nautica is not like us.
This time, we were impressed by the order and cleanliness of the premises in the Hotel and the staff, what is people-oriented. "It is not just a guest." You will feel well cared for and want to get away of the loved one will not have more, even if one has a Handicap (blindness) as my partner.
Something like this is, unfortunately, much too rare.
Very good Service, dedication to the Job in the Hotel worked and we were closed as a guest to the heart, leads to only one conclusion:
The Hotel has earned a 5-ratings star, and a re-visit we would come back any time. (Date 05.01.2014)

The Villa Joop in Magdeburg, led by the very charming couple, Joop, offers a unique in all of Germany presented courtesy that surpasses any service orientation in a Hotel by Far.
If it is the Joops not once would you have to put in every city of this world will see a "Villa Joop".
