Clean Room and Good Location, but Housekeeping Seriously Crossed the Line

The check-in experience was smooth and quick. I was even allowed to enter the room before the official time, which was really convenient. The hotel is well-located, with good connections to get around the city.

The breakfast was basic but had the essentials — enough to start the day off right.

The room was clean, but I was disappointed with the view. It faced a small interior patio with other windows very close by, so I had to keep the curtains shut the entire time for any sense of privacy. Unfortunately, after housekeeping came in, they left all the curtains wide open, exposing my belongings to anyone in the surrounding windows.

And that leads me to the biggest issue: the housekeeping service.

When I checked in, I was specifically asked if I wanted room cleaning, and I clearly said I only needed fresh towels during my two-night stay — nothing more. But when I got back to my room later that night, I found that the entire room had been made up (which might seem like a good thing), but in reality, it felt like a complete invasion of privacy. Here is why:

They had moved and touched all of my things. In the bathroom, they packed up my toiletries — including some very expensive cosmetics — and one of my serums spilled all over inside my toiletry bag. Loosing absolutely everything.

The craziest thing was that My dirty clothes had been folded and mixed with clean clothes — which felt like a real invasion of personal space! something I found extremely inappropriate.
I found it incredibly invasive that someone handled my dirty laundry at all.

As someone who’s worked in housekeeping before, I know that rule number one is: never touch personal belongings unless absolutely necessary.

To make matters worse, they removed several things I had intentionally left in the room. receipts I needed for work, informational papers, and even bottles I planned to re use and return for a refund (they’re not just trash — they’re part of a recycling system that gives money back). They also removed everything they thought it was necessary without asking what was actually disposable.

I had left all my belongings neatly placed on shelves or tables — not even on the bed — so there was absolutely no reason for them to be moved or touched. There was nothing obstructing the space that would justify such interference.

I tried to file a complaint, but the front desk was already closed for the night (they have limited working hours) and there was no staff available to help.

In the end, while the hotel offers good basics — a clean room, decent breakfast, and a convenient location — none of that makes up for the feeling of having your privacy and belongings disrespected. What should have been a simple and comfortable stay turned into a stressful and frustrating experience. I truly hope management takes this seriously, because respecting guests’ space is not optional, it is essential.

Awful service. I had an unexpected medical emergency and wanted to cancel my stay at this hotel. I could provide all necessary documents about my inability to travel. I called many times, left messages on the voicemail, and sent multiple emails, but received no response. I was charged the full amount for the stay I did not have. The main point of disappointment is that I received no response. No one even bothered to talk to me or send an email. I had a better opinion of German hospitality.
