Crithoni's Paradise Hotel in Alinda

We looked forward to leaving. We didn't really enjoy our stay. There were some good points, but unfortunately, more bad ones. I will try to be fair and objective; Good; hot water for showers, nice, white towels, room clean. We had a room at the back of the hotel, but we had the sun on our balcony all day and a pleasant view of pretty, flowering trees. The sea view rooms at the front of the hotel appeared to be in perpetual shade, as was most of the pool area. We discovered a short trip of the island, which was quite good. Although as a holiday destination, it doesn't seem to have as much to offer as other Greek islands. Bad; the hotel is dated and tired, especially the rooms. Ours was carpeted and had bright orange curtains and bedspreads. There was no kettle in the room. The hairdryer was like something from the 1950s and resemled a vacuum cleaner hose. It kept switching off and my husband had to hold it in the on position while I dried my hair. The food was repetitive, cool and not very varied. As a pescatarian, I really struggled, as most days there was no fish. I mostly had cheese salad and chips at lunchtime and at night, well I really struggled. Bread was very dry. They obviously recycled left over vegetables the next day. Breakfast was not too bad. The hotel is up a driveway, which meant not much traffic noise, but the road was very busy and mostly lacking a pavement, therefore walking anywhere was a bit tricky. We did walk to the harbour, which was quite nice and to the Britsh War cemetery. The beaches nearby are narrow, very pebbly and small, with no sun loungers. The hotel bar was outside and in October, it was too cool to sit out after dinner. The barman was deadpan. The waiting staff were generally OK, except when we sat drinking after 9pm and they got a bit shirty, even though the restaurant should be open until 10pm. The included wine was not great. The pool looked uninviting, with what looked like algae in it. We didn't chance it. Like most of Greece, you can't put loo roll down the toilet.

I’m going a 3 star review mainly because the pool is very dirty we looked forward to having a large pool, but it needs a very good clean, black mould loads of dead insects and a very oily appearance. Such a shame. It was only on our last night of 3 that the bar man donni I think very friendly pointed out the gin we were drinking was €18:50 more than most of the meals we ate, I admit we signed for them without even checking, so had a hefty bar bill. This is by a million miles the most expensive drink we purchased in nearly 3 weeks of travelling around. The rooms are nice with a good view the bedroom carpets are odd to me and sticky in places. Sun beds nice breakfast good we had the buffet one evening very nice and at €15 ph very good price. We felt some of the staff were more than ready for the end of the season and let it show on there faces. The question is would we stay again No.

Comfortable but very very dated. It appeared to be stuck in the 70's//80's. The whole place needs a revamp. The foyer area had loads of sofas and chairs. But again very dated. The shops were all closed every day with the exception of the spa. The top corridor stank very badly of cat urine. The grouting and steps in the pool were covered in black mould and despite being assured it would be cleaned up by the next morning. 5 days later it was still there. There was rust all around the plug hole in the bath, but this didn't make much difference as there was no plug. One out of three lights in the bathroom worked. Sink plug didn't work. Shower curtain smelled awful. Chair in the room was all stained. The worst internet we have ever come across anywhere in Greece. Mostly non existent
