Makryammos Bungalows in Limenas

Really enjoyed a one week stay. The accommodation reminded me of Center Parcs - with bungalows set in a forest - but here high up on a hill. Golf buggies available if required. Rooms were modern, spacious and comfortable with a fridge and a wide balcony overlooking the sea. We found the food excellent with a good variety of choices. Particularly enjoyed a meal at the Pan Restaurant - which isn’t part of the half board package but you are given €20 each towards the bill. Worth it. Really comfortable sun beds by the large pool - and having a reserved sun bed on the beach was a bonus. Takes away the early risers and towel dumpers snapping up the best sun beds. The several bars within the complex were good and prices reasonable. Thassos (Meaning forest) is a beautiful island and well worth exploring. Easy transfer from the airport to the port (10 mins) then ferry to Thassos (35 mins) then coach to hotel (10 mins.) One negative aspect about the hotel was the quality of service in the main buffet restaurant- really poor for a 5* hotel. The waiting staff appeared totally disinterested and we had to repeatedly ask to order drinks, replacement cutlery and serviettes. I have noted previous reviews saying the same thing so the hotel is obviously not addressing the issue. I am sure they will ‘share this with the relevant teams’ (See previous review about quality of service!.) In other words. Do nothing. Would also be nice to be provided with a bottle of water daily - not just the one bottle you find in the fridge when you arrive. We found the water was expensive to buy. But all things considered loved our stay.

Our apartment/bungalow-style room was clean, quiet, and very nice. The hotel’s secluded location features a beautiful beach with the excellent perk of a designated, included sunbed. Aside from the restaurant team, the resort staff were incredibly polite and friendly.Unfortunately, the restaurant prevents this property from being a true 5-star resort. The food is standard 3-star quality and consistently served lukewarm, even when we arrived first. Service was lacking—dishes weren't cleared timely, ordering drinks felt like an inconvenience to staff, and coffee/tea was never proactively offered at breakfast. The dining setup also utilizes paper napkins and paper tablecloths, which doesn't match a luxury rating.On-site drinks are highly priced (€4.50 for water, €14.00 for a G&T). For alternative options, Thassos Town is a short taxi ride or a steady 40-minute walk away.The dining experience is the sole reason we wouldn't return. While TUI gives this property a 5T rating, the restaurant requires major service adjustments to meet that standard. It has amazing potential if management addresses these issues!

The hotel is located about 2 km uphill from the nearest city. There is no market or shop of any kind at the hotel. The rooms are in perfect condition, clean, and spacious. The AC and ventilator work perfectly. I recommend buying an electric mosquito repellent vaporiser. The food is of a high standard and, during our week-long stay, was not repetitive. The rooms are cleaned daily. You can purchase a 6-pack of 1.5 L bottles of water at the reception for €5. However, a better solution is to take a taxi or rent a car and buy enough water at the nearest Lidl for a fraction of the price.

This was our 4th visit to Makryammos. Greece never fails to provide great weather and this hotel and it staff can do no more to make this the perfect holiday. There are too many to mention all of them, but from the reception Vasilies fulliffed all our requests from the precice bungalow we requested on top of the hill, to the sun lounger front row on the beach. We celebrated out wedding anniversary and my birthday while we were here. When we arrived to our bungalow we were greeted by a complementary bottle of wine . The resteraunt manager greeted us with a hello and a smile and all the staff were cheerful and helpful. Unfortunately we will miss next year as we travel to Canada and Alaska fir my big 60th. Wow, Makryammos you did not dissapoint, stunning peaceful location with crystal clear water and lovely sandy beach. Food and hospitality was exceptional, the choice was incredible! we stayed in a superior bungalow and it was beautifully clean and very spacious, housekeeping every day replacing towels and keeping the room fresh, add to that the daily visits from the Peacocks and babies who you can feed from your hand this was such a lovely experience, only 10 euros for taxi into Thassos town which is lovely to stroll around especially the bars at the old harbour, Thank you for a wonderful holiday, see you next year!!

HONEST REVIEW I was very apprehensive after booking this hotel last year, based on some of the poor reviews in 2025. I have to say that I was initially very impressed on arrival last week. In all fairness it’s not a bad hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff friendly, the grounds are well maintained and the beach is stunning. A special mention to the reception staff who were most helpful in answering our questions and solving any issues. My only negatives as such are the lack of respect from other guests with the small adult only pool. There are often children in it. A lot of parents ignore the ‘adult only’ signs. The staff do very little to enforce the adult only rule. The main restaurant feels chaotic at nighttime. You have to ask for drinks every time. The service feels inconsistent, even though the staff are friendly. The food is great however. I don’t know if it’s a cultural thing, but people seem to smoke and drink, all at the same time? Some nights the smoke has been too much when you’re trying to eat outside. At breakfast there is no proactive approach to topping up coffee. You always have to ask for it. It’s never offered. On a plus note, the PAN restaurant is good. The portion sizes and food are great, but again the service lacks. No one checks “is everything ok”? or “would you like another drink?” We will however be going back to PAN tonight for our last meal as the setting is great, and it’s more relaxed compared to the chaos of the main restaurant. There’s also no where close to go to; supermarkets or local tavernas for lunch. Everywhere is a taxi ride away. You can’t really walk to anything local. There are wasps and bees. I got stung by a bee yesterday on the beach. But when I compare it to how bad the wasp situation was last year in Corfu, it hasn’t spoilt our holiday. I love all the peacocks and wildlife around the hotel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Wonderful Experience at Makryammos Resort! We had an absolutely wonderful holiday and would like to sincerely thank the entire team at Makryammos Resort for making us feel so welcome. Everything was truly worthy of a five-star resort: from the hospitality and attention given to guests to the impeccable daily housekeeping and exceptional food. Everything was very well organized and thoughtfully arranged. The location is simply breathtaking, and the sea is incredibly beautiful. It is a place where nature, peace, and comfort come together perfectly. We would especially like to thank Manager Dimitri for his kindness and professionalism, as well as the lovely lady at reception, who greeted us every day with a genuine smile and exceptional warmth. These may seem like small gestures, but they are what turn a holiday into a truly memorable experience. We would also like to thank all the ladies who took care of the daily room cleaning, as well as the entire staff who contributed to making our stay so wonderful. ❤️ We left with so much happiness in our hearts and with the certainty that we will gladly return to Makryammos. It is one of those special places you visit once and immediately wish to return to. ❤️ Thank you for everything! We will definitely see you again!

It was a very beautiful and restful stay at Makryammos, the nature and the sea as well as the many animals that live there, from peacocks to deers, really made this place outstanding and unique. Location is good, it’s very near Limenas, and with car, you can easily reach other places on the island as well. My room was good, it has a priceless view of the sea, yet the room itself was normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Rooms are cleaned each day, and cleaning ladies are actually very nice unlike in most, including luxurious hotels, i’ve been to. Food is alright, it had many varieties and is different each day, but restaurant on the sea near the main one has much better food, and i recommend you go there. There are just too many people in the main one, for both dinner and breakfast, and if you are someone who prefers keeping to oneself as i am, you’d prefer going to smaller restaurants in the complex. Surprisingly, i’d say this place is one of the most fair price-value hotels i’ve ever been to, big respect for that one. And for the end, i’d recommend you book a massage if you have time and resources, miss Roula the masseuse is absolutely great and all the praise for her and her work. If you’re looking for a peaceful, good price/value ratio, nature filled place with great sea, even greater variety of everything and pleasant climate, this place would hit the mark. Second time @ Makryammos. Meanwhille they added a star to the resort. It was good enough in 2021 to return now for the second time in 2026.However noi IT was even better. The pool was updated and there is a new gym that we fully enjoyed in those hot afternoons of August. The beach is the most beautifull I have seen in Thassos and, in general, one of the best anywhere. The beach îs BlueFlag rated but this one îs with clean and shallow water with sand sea bed. The entire resort is so green and picturesque... The stone houses are all under the shadow of the pine forest and remain cool the entire day. Unbeatible . Food is verry nice and diverse. You always find at least one dish to enjoy. They serve breakfast and dinner. In between you can grab a snack on the beach or take a full meal on the taverna inside the resort. I was impressed that the prices at the taverna are better that the ones around the Golden Beach tavernas and the quality of food is excelent. During our stay they even organised greek music nights. Internet is good for browsing news and read emails. If you really nead to netflix something use your data plan - the mobile coverage is excelent. Many mosquitos - they have to improve that in the future. Bees, not so many as in the past, but still some in the right side of the beach at the showers ne-ar the toilets and changing rooms in the beach. (that by the wqybhanging rooms are new and jeept verry clean). At arrival we received an umbrela and 2 sunbeds. They are allocated from reception and all tourists know that they have their place in the beach. Because we are 4 we asked for 2 extra sunbeds on the beach and we received them imediatelly. Later web asked for a second umbrela ar the reception desk which they also provided with no hesitation. Web also changed the place on the beach and they reception desk provided îs with the spot we asked as soon as vecine available. Looking forward for our next visit at Makryammos...)))
