The soft drink machine can only be used at breakfast. My package included breakfast and dinner, yet during dinner no drinks are provided for guests – not even water. If someone wants something to drink, the only option is to go to the bar and pay for it. This means that during dinner you have to keep going back and forth to the bar, which is quite absurd in a hotel restaurant. On top of that, they only provide 2–3 dl glasses, which you finish in two sips, so you can basically keep going back to pay again. When we finally managed to get the attention of a waiter, after about 10 minutes he brought two jugs of water, a cola, and one separately requested 0.5-liter bottle of mineral water to the table. Before that, we specifically asked whether jugged mineral water was available, since we were a group. The answer was yes. However, when the bill arrived, it turned out that the two jugs had actually been poured from 4 separate half-liter bottles of mineral water, plus the one extra half-liter bottle we ordered separately – meaning we ended up paying for a total of 5 bottles of 0.5-liter mineral water. This in itself is not the problem, but the correct answer to our question should have been no, followed by offering this option. When the drinks arrived, I received a visibly dirty glass. It wasn’t just a water stain – you could clearly see the fruit pulp from a previously consumed drink in it. When I asked for another glass, the waiter started picking from around 50 glasses, which rather suggested that this was not an isolated issue. The replacement glass was slightly better, but still far from clean. I eventually had to drink straight from the bottle. The buffet was also quite small compared to the number of guests. It resulted in serious overcrowding, with people practically standing on top of each other while trying to serve themselves. At times it was so crowded that people were almost spilling food on each other while trying to choose something from the buffet. For a restaurant full of dinner guests, there were only about 3–4 waiters, which is clearly not enough. Honestly, if there isn’t a budget even for the basics – proper drink service, clean glasses, and sufficient staff – then perhaps a hotel shouldn’t be operating this way. It is especially surprising to experience this in a Hunguest Hotels property. And unfortunately this was not my first similar experience with them: in another one of their hotels, the pool water in the wellness area was cold in the middle of winter, and outside the rooms the entire building felt freezing. Overall, it was quite a disappointing experience from a chain that is supposed to operate as a hotel network. In a hotel, people usually don’t expect luxury – just a clean glass and not having to sit through dinner thirsty. Apparently, even that is too much to expect here.

Nice refurbished hotel. Great breakfasts and dinners. The most important is access to thermal baths. Rooms are standard and nothing to complain about. The critical issue is Internet. It basically works only within lobby, so be prepared to use your cellular one. In general it's a nice spot to stay especially during cold months.

Very nice hotel with a lot of pools, and spa

Very disrespectful employee at the front desk charged me 3 times more then what was booked. Bus Istvan representative at the front desk was very disrespectful and charged me extra for things not mentioned. It was a very bad experience I do not recommend it.

I travel a lot and this was the most disappointing, disrespectful hotel I have ever stayed at. The receptionist Bus Istvan should not even work in the hotel business if he doesn’t know how to speak and interact with customers. After already paying for my stay online they charged me double during the whole stay. He even ran after me in the parking lot after checking out saying that they didn’t charge the mini bar in the room that has no written information that is not included with an “All inclusive “ stay that I paid for and that he never mentioned during check out or checking in to make me aware. Most of all the staff does not speak proper English to have a conversation with on all parts of the building and the room had cob webs all over, leaky ceiling in the bathroom. I am just exhausted from trying to make it a nice weekend. Try a different place nearby

Our stay at the hotel was very relaxing. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, plentiful, and of high quality. The reception staff were very courteous and spoke English. Access to the pools is very convenient, regardless of the weather or time of year. Everything is very hygienic.

We had an incredible stay at Hungest Hotel in Gyula! Everything here is designed for maximum relaxation. The rooms are beautiful, and the beds are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. A fantastic bonus is the direct access to the thermal baths and aquapark, which added so much to our experience. We will definitely be returning

We had a weekend booked at this location and couldn’t make it because our daughter got the chickenpox on the day we were supposed to check in.

We asked for a fee waver given the circumstances and they have been very nice and prompt in getting back to us and not applying any charges.

We will definitely choose this location when we will visit Gyula.
