The hotel is more like a place to sleep in than a suite to spend a lot of time in, it was not clean at all (spiderwebs + spider in the toilet, leaves left from autumn under our beds and it was spring, etc) and the furniture brings you back to the eighties. It has so much potential but clearly it's been abandoned and not maintained properly for decades - the huge green area could be beautiful and could make the place very inviting on its' own, but it's a mess. There is a thermal pool + swimming pool and many activities to do (tennis, table tennis etc), the city center is a short walking distance so that's a plus, but the hotel itself is just bad.
- Reflecting to the very disrespectful reply by this place: I was there 5 times already in the past 5 years, a family friend pays a yearly fee for staying there a few weeks per year. Maybe you should also keep better administration of your visitors - and also maybe admit that all of the things I wrote here are absolutely and 100% reflecting the reality. This place is actually closing down in November because apparently they cannot operate profitably anymore. That tells a lot. This reply just makes the whole situation even more laughable, labeling someone a "troll" (by the way - clicking on my profile and checking how many reviews I have - which are all in honesty - takes a few seconds for anybody) who points out general issues. There is potential in this place, it could be great, but it is not and apparently they fail to realize that - to be fair, I heard the superior rooms are nicer than the one we spent time in but that doesn't make it right. Bringing it down to 1, not only bad but also disrespectful.

Definitely not the worst, but far from satisfactory. The rooms and the buildings could be cleaner and far more modern. The pools, especially the swimming pool, are too small and crowded.
The cleaning lady came into our room at 7:45 and apologized waaay too loudly and tactlessly, obviously wanted us to get up and leave early.
I would recommend it to families with small kids and elderly couples/groups.

The hotel itself is not bad. It worth the price but not more. If you need a cheap hotel than it is good however there might be better than this. The apartment is functional but it was not clean. At the reception desk people were not on top of the service. Feeling of the communist era.

There are more modern 'houses' in the hotel, too, but I think they cost more than the regular ones as there are less of them + they are better equipped.
There is no microwave in these regular 'houses', fridges are rather small and there's no regular stove either, just an electric stove.

The hotel is more like a place to sleep in than a suite to spend a lot of time in, it was not clean at all (spiderwebs + spider in the toilet, leaves left from autumn under our beds, etc) and the furniture brings you back to the late eighties, but the outside thermal pool, tennis, table tennis and other activities are well worth the low price. It is close to the city, 5min walk to the castle and 10-15min to the centre. The Várfürdő with 18 pools is also a mere 10min walk from here. Gyula is a very nice place as well. It is worth the price, if it was a bit cleaner I would have no problem.
