The hotel and staff were lovely. Situated in very convenient spot to explore Varenna and the surrounding area. Our room had a lovely view of the city and church. The breakfast buffet has a nice variety of options for all. Your stay includes access to the sister hotel properties and botanical garden! I would stay here again the next time we visit Lake Como.

Incredibly nice and professional staff. Comfortable and spacious classic room. Loved that the Cipressi Gardens came with the room, as well as little touches throughout the stay (prosecco, candy). Wonderful!

Fabulous view, nice accommodating staff. Breakfast was very good. We were told that the A/C was on from noon to midnight and could have a fan if needed.

Every room has incredible views to Lake Como and private balconies. There's also a very good restaurant at the hotel with a great view of the lake.

Beautiful Swiss hotel with a peaceful atmosphere. Very clean room, comfortable bed, and excellent service. Perfect for a relaxing stay.

The biggest highlight was the transportation, but the hotel facilities were very basic, like a 1-star hotel. However, the breakfast was a real standout – very rich with many kinds of ham and croissants. It was one of the best breakfasts we had during our stay.

The so-called 'sea view' was actually just a tiny glimpse of the sea from afar, across a road. Room facilities: The curtains weren't very blackout, especially in Room 5, where light from a large LED screen on the street outside shone in all night, making it impossible to sleep. A guesthouse well located and equipped with all the household essentials is reasonably priced. We find it comfortable to stay for two days. It is just near the lakeside and easily access to the ferry to Bellagio. We will stay here again next time for sure.

Wonderfully perfect. This home is in an absolutely wonderful location. Easy access to anywhere in Varenna. The home itself has all the comforts of home. It was very clean and comfortable. Ettore was highly communicative and available. The I highly recommend it.

Best stay at a reasonable price! This is our second time staying here. We love the location, as it sits atop a wine bar. It is also close to some of the best food in Varenna. The host has always been nice, and he is easy to contact. We love this place and highly recommend it.

We were starving hot and cranky and wanted to eat fast. We were greeted warmly and sat down and offered an ice cold water and about 6 minutes later our pizza arrived. Perfect. We loved watching the world pass by in the piazza too.

This place was recommended to us during our stay. Hurried service and nothing special when it comes to the food. Quite tasteless pizza. I have to say the waiter did his best and the restaurant was packed.

Located on the Varenna town square, this clean and modest hotel is a gem. Relatively large rooms, all necessary amenities, with a hearty breakfast included, it's a good choice for a base from which to explore Lake Como.

Adequate food and a decent menu. Bread came in a paper bag which was odd. Pizza options pretty good. Opening hours online but accurate as is closed on Wednesday.

We really enjoyed both the seafood and the pizzas and they were really friendly and excellent service. In fact we kept going back as we found it to be the best food and value in Varenna

Very friendly and warm service. Local people preference for get together on Saturday eve. The place was full and still no delay and they serve at once for everyone at the table. We tried the seafood, salads, meet, deserts - all like home made! The only thing that could be fixed is the phone for reservations:)

Hotel Il Portichetto is a wonderful place to stay just above Lake Como by Varenna (area called Vezio. The hotel is like an Italian village walking down narrow cobblestone streets to get to our room. Rooms were comfortable and had a wonderful on-site restaurant by the same name, which made it great just arriving from the States. Food was fantastic. Quaint little hotel nestled in the hillside of Varenna with spectacular views of the lake. Our lovely host, Rita, couldn’t do enough for us and provided lots of valuable information. Because of hillside location she arranged taxis for us and if none were available she would drive us herself. Delicious continental breakfast included and an on site restaurant is available featuring local produce.

Lovely small family hotel in a beautiful location in the hills above Varenna. Staff are friendly & helpful. Rooms are spotlessly clean. Great choice at breakfast buffet. Restaurant meals excellent with a good choice.

This place was special. The breakfast in the morning was a delight, which included a cappuccino, croissants, and such yummy scrambled eggs. Gorgeous views. Our host Rita was so accommodating! She was so welcoming and gave us everything we needed. The restaurant just one minute walk away is also worth it to check out. Everyone was so welcoming!

Very clean apartment. Comfortable bed and lovely pillows etc. Lovely balcony with lake view. Helpful info given from owners e.g. route into Varenna. Kindly picked us up from the station when there weren’t any taxis.

What a great little place to stay, the hosts welcoming and made us feel welcome. We arrived 4 hours before checkin and even through our room was not ready, they allowed us to leave our bags and explore. The room was small but all we needed. Great location, brilliant for the ferry port or bus station (currently a replacement bus service) The room was clean and tidy along with a spacious bathroom. The B&B is perfectly located, withina residential complex which is within walking distance from Varenna Esino station and a short hop to the ferry dock. It's run by a wonderful couple, who speak very little English, but are very helpful. We had the green room, compact but comfortable. Breakfast was a generous spread. We can confirm what others have said about B&B Il Bolentino. It's an ideal spot to stay in Varenna in terms of its location, it's cleanliness, its amenities, and the friendliness of its proprietors, Renata and Antonio. When you're there, it feels like home because it is home. You cannot go wrong at Il Bolentino.

My wife and I had a lovely 2 night stay Oct 7 & 8, 2023. Wonderful hosts and the breakfast was good, staying within the regulations. It was filling. The location is great. Easy 7 to 10 minute walk to almost all of Varenna. Ferry dock is close. They suggested a few restaurants for dinner and we made reservations at one for the following night. Glad we did because they were full. Lovely and comfortable...

Il Bolentino was an amazing place with a good location and service, Antonia & Renata where great hosts who would help you with anything, the continental breakfast was equivalent to a 5 star breakfast, it’s also a pet friendly place with cats outside, but don’t worry they don’t enter the house. I would seriously recommend this place 5/5.
