What a great little place to stay, the hosts welcoming and made us feel welcome. We arrived 4 hours before checkin and even through our room was not ready, they allowed us to leave our bags and explore. The room was small but all we needed. The breakfast was great and had heaps to choose from. The location is excellent, about half way between the Varenna train station and the ferry. FYI we went in winter and there is limited places to eat (less than 8) or buy food, so consider packing some snacks before hand.

Great location in the wonderful town of varenna. Great location, brilliant for the ferry port or bus station (currently a replacement bus service) The room was clean and tidy along with a spacious bathroom. Very good continental breakfast with lots of choice and a good view of the mountains from the breakfast terrace. The hosts have limited English, but we managed to communicate everything we needed, both hosts are super friendly, accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Definitely recommend.

The B&B is perfectly located, withina residential complex which is within walking distance from Varenna Esino station and a short hop to the ferry dock. It's run by a wonderful couple, who speak very little English, but are very helpful. We had the green room, compact but comfortable. Breakfast was a generous spread. Accomodation in Varenna has become unreasonably priced, and difficult - so book in advance.

We can confirm what others have said about B&B Il Bolentino. It's an ideal spot to stay in Varenna in terms of its location, it's cleanliness, its amenities, and the friendliness of its proprietors, Renata and Antonio. When you're there, it feels like home because it is home. You cannot go wrong at Il Bolentino.

My wife and I had a lovely 2 night stay Oct 7 & 8, 2023. Wonderful hosts and the breakfast was good, staying within the regulations. It was filling. The location is great. Easy 7 to 10 minute walk to almost all of Varenna. Ferry dock is close. They suggested a few restaurants for dinner and we made reservations at one for the following night. Glad we did because they were full. Lovely and comfortable establishment.

The people are awesome, although they don't speak much english. It was a very nice place to stay in and varenna is just sooo beautiful.

Great little Bed&Breakfast in a beautiful town, very close to the train station, easy walking distance to everything in town as well as the ferries to bellagio and menagio, lots of ancient stone pathways to explore. Beds firm but comfortable, long enough for a tall person, plenty of hot water in the shower. Small refrigerator and tea provided in the room. Cash only. Renata and Antonio are very sweet. Espresso drinks and cold cuts and yogurt and pastries for breakfast. No English spoken but very patient with our limited Italian.

Renata & her husband, Antonio, are a lovely warm couple hosting the B&B space. While when booking you don't know which room you'll get, it honestly doesn't matter because of how well maintained the space is. We got the red room. It's comfortably sized, warm, and cosy. The en suite bathroom is clean and furnished with toiletries as well as a towel rack to dry your towels. The breakfast was delicious and a warm space. Yes, the breakfast room is only available during breakfast time but it is evidently their living room and so set aside for their use otherwise. No issue there. Good reliable WiFi. The B&B is walking distance from the train station as well as the ferry terminal (5 minutes each way). There's also a little organic store across the alley from the B&B with wine, cheese, and snacks. I would definitely recommend staying here when in Varenna!

Il Bolentino was an amazing place with a good location and service, Antonia & Renata where great hosts who would help you with anything, the continental breakfast was equivalent to a 5 star breakfast, it’s also a pet friendly place with cats outside, but don’t worry they don’t enter the house. I would seriously recommend this place 5/5.

I emailed them before my booked date to let them know that i needed to cancel because of medical emergency, they did not consider giving me a refund and instead they wanted to know if im still coming so they can free up the room. No consideration for a refund because they said i am on penalty for not showing up even though i advised them beforehand that it is because of medical situation.

the staff make you feel like you are staying with family. easy 2 minute walk from the train station or ferry. room has plenty of room and the bathroom is large. great food in the ristorante

We didn’t stay in the hotel, but watched a football match using their Wi-Fi. The staff could not have been more accommodating. So friendly and helpful, was a lovely evening in their garden.

Exceptionally nice and helpful staff. Basic rooms but very clean with comfortable beds and nice towels and linens. Very convenient location and great breakfast.

Very special hotel, nice and clean. Village center, convenient to walk to the lake, very good breakfast. Nice and nice people. If you rent a car there is a convenient parking lot nearby where you can stop.
