Suminoyu Hotel in Nagoya

I'm a guest here. The room is seriously tiny. About the size of two private cafe rooms. The width of the air conditioner was just right, lol. The bed is tiny, too. Whether you consider it a hassle to stay for under 5,000 yen, or whether you think an internet cafe would be more comfortable, is up to you.

The walls are so thin you can even hear your neighbor turning the pages of a book. I lost the neighbor lottery and ended up sleeping next to a loudly snoring old man. It might have been two rooms away, though.

The noise of people rushing home in the middle of the night and the voices of others kept me from getting a proper night's sleep.

It said there was WiFi, but the smartphone signal didn't reach the room on the first floor. It's tough for modern people to live in an environment where they can't even get LINE or Instagram. Surfing the web on the rare signal that does arrive uses up a huge amount of data.

The bathroom and sink are unisex, and I wouldn't say they were very clean.

The bathhouse was broken in many ways, and it wasn't very comfortable as it was frequented by young people catching their night buses. It was the first time I'd seen a shower (?) attached to the wall in a while. Guests can get a 10-yen coin for a hair dryer at the front desk. If you have long hair, you should expect a hair dryer to cost around 200 yen.

I had heard there was a surveillance camera in the changing room, so I was on guard, but I couldn't find it. I don't know if it's been removed or hidden.

This is what they mean when they say, "Penny wise, pound foolish." Next time I'll try an internet cafe.
If you're petite, can sleep anywhere, and don't mind not having internet, this is a good place to stay cheaply.
