Richmond Hotel Fukuyama Ekimae, Fukuyama1 / 30
8.9
Chugoku region, Fukuyama, 1-1 Higashisakura-cho 🧭 Map
Pros: Very close to the station, and the front desk staff provided excellent service. The bed was comfortable, and the room was very clean. Cons: Poor soundproofing for the floors and walls, and the room layout was impractical.
Breakfast is amazing! The front counter servers good English communication and hospitality. Very close to the main station, bus station and supermarket.
In the early morning, I could hear the snoring of the guest in the next room, and it bothered me so much I couldn't sleep. What a shame!
The hotel is a block away from Fukuyama Station, a three-minute walk. The advantage is that you can't hear any train noise at all. There's a supermarket and an Animate store on the basement level. The hotel lobby on the first floor is quite nice; the main lobby is on the 8th floor. The room I stayed in was on the top floor, the 16th floor, but unfortunately, there wasn't much of a view. The hotel staff...
It was great. It was truly wonderful. I'm so grateful. I don't know how to express my gratitude.
The breakfast buffet had sea bream rice chazuke, which I thought was ingenious, and of course it was delicious. I was able to start the morning feeling rich and had a good day. I have relatives nearby, so I stayed overnight in Fukuyama City, which was a good starting point for Onomichi - Shimanami - Imabari - Takamatsu Castle. I don't have any photos of Fukuyama, so I'll post a photo of Takamatsu Castle

The hotel room was located only about 5 minutes from the train station and had many restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel room was very clean, but when taking a shower had to be careful because the temperature fluctuated when in use. The breakfast provided every morning was okay.
Hotel had everything you needed and nothing more. Not that there was one power outlet on the desk, labeled “24h power”, that would keep providing charge to an appliance even when the key card is not the in room power slot next to the door. Use that if you need to charge something while you are out for the day. Complimentary breakfast was basic but got the job done and it was nice to have different...
The sound of the Shinkansen was a bit annoying.
Easy walking to the hotel from Fukuyama station. The Castle near the station can be easily accessed by walking ( not too tough for me who has a knee issue). I could see Toyoko Inn at the top of the Castle ground. Also the cathedral.

Maybe there were a lot of group guests? It was so crowded that we had to wait in line at breakfast time. Since we had to line up at the breakfast area, I was worried about having to reserve a spot and wandering around with food.

The bath was great because I could use it anytime.
I'm giving it a 4-star rating with the expectation that there's still room for improvement. The breakfast was excellent! It was very comprehensive, so if you stay here, I highly recommend trying it. The staff, though multinational, were all kind and attentive. I went with my 11-year-old daughter, and it was clear that the kids' pajamas were too small. However, I appreciate that they were provided...
There is only a sauna and Outdoor Spa for men. Women only get an indoor warm bath, where the window is covered with stickers so you can barely look outside. It's a shame that nowadays a hotel like this does not add a women's Sauna. The furniture is very old, which is not a Problem, but it was also covered in dust. Very thick layers of dust. We changed the room to a bigger one. The first room had a...
It's farther away from the station because there is a parking lot, but the open-air rooftop bath is amazing. There is also a small sauna, and it was great to enjoy the night view from the large public bath while feeling the dawn.
I use it all the time and love the rooftop sauna.
Well, it's the same everywhere

Very friendly, parking sometimes difficult (overbooked), rooms small, bathroom very small.
This hotel experience was fantastic! The location is excellent, with convenient transportation and plenty of options for dining, entertainment, and shopping nearby. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and I slept very well that night. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, check-in was quick, and they even thoughtfully recommended local restaurants. The breakfast...
The hotel is incredibly noisy. There are railway tracks right outside the window, and coal wagons clatter along at 1 or 2 AM, starting again at 4 or 5 AM. The hotel windows offer absolutely no soundproofing. It's like trains are passing overhead. It's the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in. This is due to the hotel's location; there's nothing you can do about it. Who would build a hotel in front of...
The hotel has a great location, right next to Fushan Station. The rooms are quite spacious, and it seems to be a renovated older hotel. The only downsides are that the toilet sometimes has a slight backflow odor, and the bathtub drains a bit slowly (though the water pressure is strong). It does have an air purifier, which is a thoughtful touch.
I like the breakfast. A lot of choice and was so nice
Great hotel, nice location and helpful staff. The parking lot was full, but the front desk staff helped us by directing us to the next lot. They upgraded our room when we checked in, which was fun! Great service.

Its ridiculous that the air conditioner only comes with warm and wind mode, without cool. And there is no wind even i tuned it the highest. Eventually i had to open the window and asked for a fan, otherwise the room brought u liked an oven.
Rare find in Fukuyama! The room was so big than usual. Many amenities to use and borrow. And the best thing is reception staff was very kind and helpful even with foreigner.
Excellent hotel with big rooms, clean premises and impeccable service. Though location is a bit far from station, still walkable even for family with kids.
Car parking is available without extra fee.welcome drinks are available.hotel is clean and room is big.
The hotel staff is friendly, there is a welcome drink, the breakfast is not very varied but acceptable at this price, there is a free parking lot, suitable for self-driving tours, there is a seria 100 yen store in the isolation area, which is suitable for my wife to buy flat fields, high cost performance, recommended
For me was ok to stay for 2 nights. Rooms are small as usual in japan. I cańt judge about hotel facilities or breakfast, because i really just stayed to sleep.

This hotel is such a gem in a charming city like Fukuyama. The amenities are plentiful, the room is really spacious and comfortable. It's a good season to open the windows at night, and even with the train, the atmosphere is really quiet at night. The hotel is on the castle side of the station, and there aren't many restaurants nearby except at the station and the other side. But the walk is not far...
Exactly how a hotel should be, with well thought out amenities that are useful and functional, a convenient location but with quiet rooms and beautiful views from the window.
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in the whole of Japan. Location: The best location. Right beside Fukuyama station, and Fukuyama Castle, with unobstructed views from the room to the castle. Facilities: Free drink bar with various drinks, including an assortment of Japanese alcohol, free flow. Room: Extremely spacious, probably the biggest room in this price range. Reception: Very kind and...
The best hotel I ever stay. Friendly staff. Yummy breakfast. Clean room and most of all you can see the castle from the windows . Free nappies and wipes for baby and a lot of toys and books.
This hotel offers views of Fukuyama Castle, the higher the floor, the better. It's also very close to the JR station, making transportation incredibly convenient.
Extremely satisfied! Great value for money. My window offered a view of Fukuyama Castle, and for the price of a single room, I got a double-sized room, which is incredibly rare in Japan. The location is also super convenient, right next to Fukuyama Station.

Even though we arrived late due to traffic congestion and in the middle of the night, they welcomed us with a smile. The room was very clean, and a comb and bath salts were provided. In the morning, they also prepared free croissants and pumpkin soup. They were delicious!! When we left, they opened the elevator for us and saw us off with a smile. I'm really glad I stayed here!!!
Perfect for going out for drinks. There are five bicycles available for free rental. The rooms are small, so if you're traveling with more than two people, it's best to choose a larger room. Even though we'd mentioned that we would be using a wheelchair, we only received a call the day before our stay to confirm any issues in the room. If they had fixed the problem the day after our reservation, we...
It was very beautiful and nice.
It's a nice hotel. I use it often.
The hotel was clean, and the hair dryer and shower head were RIFA and very comfortable to use. However, from about 6:00 on the day of check-out, children's noise echoed in the hallway and was very loud. This continued for about 30 minutes, so I called the front desk and they warned me, but it was still very loud and unpleasant after that. It's not the hotel's fault, but I was a little disappointed...
Free parking fee. Breakfast service is buffet style, 850 yen per person if booked the day before, 1000 yen even on the day. The room is clean and it's a good deal depending on the plan. It would be better if there was a large communal bath.

Close to the train station. Toilet was not well cleaned with hair lying around. It's quite a dated hotel so don't expect much. Plus point is the public bath at 2nd level which gives you a relief after a long day's walk. Good stay overall
I arrived around noon and left my luggage there, and it was already delivered to my room by the time I checked in, which was great.
It was nice that it was close to the station.
Due to a sudden business trip, I had to book a hotel across the street from my usual one. Because there were so many tourists, the hotel rate was higher than usual, but I was surprised by how small the room was. However, as others have commented, the breakfast was clean and good.
Quiet and private beaches are so relaxing, excellent for personal retreat
The elevator was under repair, so I suppose the stress of that was a drawback, but the front desk was too friendly for a hotel. Maybe it's for inbound tourists. The tub bath is interesting if it's your first time, but there were a lot of older guys there so I felt a bit hesitant to try it.

I stayed here on a business trip. It's conveniently located near the station. Breakfast is available for an additional fee and includes bread, rice balls, salad, boiled eggs, grilled salted mackerel, and more.
The bread for breakfast was delicious.
A good hotel, located in a quiet area and close to the train station. The staff is friendly. The room is clean.
I stayed in a cheap room on the first floor, but I guess I got lucky that day? It was very quiet. The walls are apparently thin, which was actually a good thing. The breakfast had a good variety, but it wasn't particularly tasty. The rice was hard. I recommend the bread. They had locally made jam, which looked delicious.
The Toilet smelled, I didn't know why the smell wasn't good.
I'm not sure about the breakfast area being in the lobby since there's no dining hall. That said, there are partitions and such, so it looks like the area is separated. The bread was delicious. The coffee was made with a DeLonghi machine, so you could have freshly ground coffee each time. It was delicious coffee. I'd like to order it again next time.

Such a nice experience! This is a very good stay with nice staff
There is a convenience store about 5 minutes walk away, and shopping facilities and restaurants about 10 minutes walk away, so I think you will be able to spend there without any problems. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis, but there are free areas, and since I only use the shower when I'm working, the plan without a shower in the room was not a problem. The facilities are old, but considering...
Although the shower is public, it is very convenient to have a separate toilet.
The hotel building itself looks old, but it has been renovated moderately and was comfortable. However, I am sorry that I could not sleep much because I was worried about the sound of the air conditioner. As for the customer service, it was great.
Room 219. A simple single room. The toilet has a new washer. The interior is also new. Televisions and humidifying air purifiers are big Daikin products. The receptionist's response is clear and favorable. I passed by the cleaning staff when I checked out, but they greeted me pleasantly at that time. This is because employers care about their employees. Hot water was slow to come out. If you leave...

We stayed in a five-person cottage over the Labor Thanksgiving holiday. It was late autumn, and the leaves had already faded, but our barbecue on the wooden deck in the spacious lodge was a wonderful memory. We started at 4:00 and it was pitch black by 6:00, so we stayed indoors and used the hotplate. We walked to the main building's large public bath, but it was already dark by the time we got there...
Out in the middle of nowhere, it's a beautiful retreat from the city. Very peaceful.
Buffet style breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious. I enjoyed the hot bath
I visited this place during coast--to-coast hike in Japan. It was a phantastic stay and I enjoyed the atmosphere, the helpfulness and the location near the top of the hill very much. One of the best experiences during my trip.

An amusing , exotic hotel . Not necessarily central but a funny experience. Breakfast in the room !
The room was really big and the facilities were great, so it was really nice.
There is a sauna so you can relax. Soft drinks are free.
First of all, the amenities at the entrance are wonderful! Even if you stay overnight, women can go empty-handed! The only disappointment is that the parking lot is small.
I used it for the reserved accommodation. Anyway, the price is cheap. The food is delicious! The room is clean! The sauna works well! It's a hotel that never happens! It was the best! !! !!
We use it regularly for accommodations on business trips. This is because it is easier to use a love hotel, which has simplified procedures, than entering a business hotel. At the lowest price, it is far cheaper than Vijiho, and if you plan to stay, you can choose between Japanese and Western drinks for free. In addition, there are many variations of the food menu that are charged separately, and...

The room was on the third floor and there was no elevator, so I got a discount. I also got a discount for using public transportation. There were a lot of very appreciated services. The rooms were a bit old, but they were well cleaned and there were no issues. The value for money was excellent.
It's conveniently located near Fukuyama Station. The building is old and you have to climb stairs to get to the third floor. The rooms are relatively spacious and comfortable, but I wouldn't recommend it for people who are sensitive to cigarette smells.
I stayed here on a trip, receiving an additional discount on the standard rate using Jalan's limited-time points. It seems like an old hotel, but it has a homey feel and is well-cleaned. They offer LAN rentals and ice in boxes in the freezer, which is good quality and doesn't melt as easily as ice from an ice dispenser. The nearest bar is about a 10-minute walk from the station.
Overall, the price was reasonable and the room was slightly better than expected. It's a privately run accommodation. Payment is cash only. The reception is nothing impressive, and the accommodation is only three floors, so you only have access to the stairs. You have to borrow a WiFi router and hair dryer from the front desk (there's a sign to that effect in a conspicuous place at the front desk)...
The rooms are old, as expected, but the receptionist was very kind. I was able to park my car in front of the entrance. There is no elevator, but it's on the second floor so that's not a problem. I also like the fact that rooms on the third floor are 200 yen cheaper. There is no breakfast service. However, it seems that there are plenty of free amenities (they are all at the entrance to the stairs...

This was my third stay. I was treated with great hospitality. I think it would be even more convenient if there was a shop inside the hotel.
The view, the room, the food, and the bath - everything was perfect and we were very satisfied. Every aspect of the hotel was carefully considered, and the staff were all very friendly, so we had a very pleasant stay. My husband, who doesn't usually eat much, said the food was delicious and finished both dinner and breakfast. He even had seconds of rice at breakfast. Thank you for your hospitality...
Japanese-style house, second floor is very close to the hot spring.
The front desk staff and wait staff were all polite and cheerful, and I had a very pleasant time. I was very satisfied with both the quality and quantity of the evening meal! The fish was especially delicious. The breakfast buffet also had just the right amount of variety, making it easy to choose. If you like porridge, it might have been even better.
