Great hotel with onsen. Our room is new deco and the view is good. Every customer can enjoy welcome drinks with many choices which have alcohol. The dinner and the breakfast are great too. Love this hotel very much.

What a wonderful stay, this location is off the beaten path for foreigners but it is such a hidden gem. It had an onsen, free drinks within a time limit, restaurant on premise, a show by performers every night, a beautiful garden and yukatas to borrow. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer. Also while they do offer a shuttle, and bikes to rent, please make sure to inform them so they can be ready to take you/accomodare you. Please also make sure that if you book, you order with breakfast and dinner, because the nearest konbini is pretty far, and many local restaurants open later or close earlier. Will come back again if given the chance.

This place was a huge disappointment in so many ways and I do not recommend it. The only good reviews here are from years ago or foreigners who probably have never been to a good ryokan.

This is NOT a ryokan. This is a large hotel that happens to have an onsen and tatami rooms. The tatami rooms are small, a bit run down, and seriously lacking standard amenities for a Japanese hotel. The few piddly amenities they do provide are garbage.

The service was also sub par. No bell service for luggage assistance. At all the other ryokans, our group was served by 5-10 servers but Gyokusen had only 1 person looking after a banquet kaiseki of 35 people. We had to help ourselves to pretty much everything because she was stretched so thin. The food was average at best. The miso soup was cold, and the yakiniku part ended up with raw pork because they cut it too thick to cook during the length of burner fuel.

The worst part is how stupid and outdated the onsen tattoo policy is. There are massive obnoxious signs even with diagrams of people with even a tiny star tattoo circled and identified as not welcome. We will gladly take our money to Kinosaki or other properties with better everything.

No tattoos allowed in the Public Onsen (only OK in private onsens, which cost ¥3,000/h). The changing area is filled with posters restating the tattoo ban next to pictures of a happy family... so behind the times really. Despite not being able to use the onsen facilities, my partner who has tattoos was still required to pay the ¥150 onsen tax upon check-out.

Apart from that, this is a good onsen hotel with excellent facilities and attentive staff. The breakfast buffet was a particular highlight, an impressive selection!

I really enjoyed it.
I was very satisfied with the hot springs and breakfast. The breakfast was especially delicious and I ended up eating too much.
The room was clean and had no problems.

Perfect 10
Clean, comfortable, very roomy western beds, breakfast was very delicious and service was best in class. The cultural show was an unique experience. Parking was plentiful and free. The staff gave excellent recommendation for dinner. The property was very elegantly decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend others to choose Hotel Gyokusen. Location is also very convenient to visit Matsue Vogel Park and Matsue Castle. Thank You for the wonderful stay!!! 清潔で、快適で、とても広々とした洋式ベッド、朝食はとても美味しく、サービスはクラス最高でした。文化ショーはユニークな体験でした。駐車場はたくさんあり、無料でした。スタッフは夕食に素晴らしいお勧めをしてくれました。宿泊施設は非常にエレガントな装飾が施されていました。私たちは滞在をとても楽しんだので、他の人にもホテル玉泉を選ぶことを間違いなく勧めます。松江フォーゲルパークや松江城への観光にも大変便利な立地です。素晴らしいご滞在をありがとうございました！

It's a very small place. There are few young Japanese people. They are all local middle-aged and elderly people. The hotel staff can hardly speak English, but we can communicate smoothly by gestures. It costs about 50 RMB to take a taxi from the JR station to the hotel. There is no hotel email address when booking through Ctrip. It may also be that the hotel does not have it, so we can't contact the hotel to pick us up. We can only wait for an empty car at the station. When leaving, it is much more convenient to get a free drop-off. There is a drop-off schedule in the picture. Please tell the hotel front desk in advance.

This hotel is truly amazing! I appreciate a lot on:
- warm and friendly staff who could not speak much English but were very nice to explain to me the details of the hotel
- gorgeous garden where you could take a seat and enjoy the view
- free Japanese alcohol at 1500-1800 (soft drinks until 2100)
- impressive free Japanese cultural performance at 2110
- quick and positive response despite I made several urgent requests due to sudden plan change
- free shuttle bus service between JR station and hotel if you approached front desk for information
- the environment of the public bath was quite clean
- totally different food combination in dinner for 2 nights

Considering the price I paid for such service, I would say the quality is definitely beyond my expectation. :) Thank you every hotel staff who made my experience a better stay!!

The hotel is nice. The lobby is very grand. The kaiseki cuisine is also very satisfying. Thank you. There are also free drinks, beer, and sake in the afternoon. I will visit this hotel again.

I was able to relax in a beautiful room. I enjoyed so much delicious food that I couldn't finish it all. The large public bath, especially the open-air bath, was also very nice.
