The cats are very well-behaved and don't meow at all.
They come into the room, patrol, and then leave.
The rooms are a little old but clean.
The bathroom was even nicer than I expected.
Both meals were delicious, especially the white rice.
The potage soup was also tasty.
Parking is available for about 5 or 6 cars (including 2 electric vehicle stands).
There is a bus stop (Shiobara Monzen) nearby.
I decided to stay here because it accepts reservations for New Year's and I heard I could interact with cats.
The entrance to the inn is locked after 3 PM to prevent cats from escaping.
The lobby in front of the front desk is colorfully decorated and there are plenty of cat toys available.
Rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, TV, safe, etc.
The room has a spacious bathroom, toilet (with washlet), and sink.
Apparently, cats come to play if you leave the door open, so I left it open and they came to play about three times during my stay.
The hot spring has indoor and outdoor baths, as well as private outdoor baths, and is open 24 hours a day.
If you would like to use the private outdoor bath, make a reservation when you check in.
Guests gather in the dining room for meals. The food was sumptuous and hearty, including Tochigi Wagyu beef and roast beef.
Rice was served in a rice container for breakfast, and I was probably full after eating a full cup.
Cats frequently popped into the lobby, so I made an effort to stop by.
Kinako-chan and Kotetsu-kun were engrossed in the cat toy, aiming at it and wiggling their eyes with their adorable round eyes.
Many guests seemed to love cats, and there was always someone in the lobby interacting with the felines.
[Hot Spring Information]
There are indoor and outdoor baths, separated by gender, and two private outdoor baths.
Changing rooms are equipped with laundry baskets and hair dryers.
Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and shaving cream are provided in the indoor baths.
The shower heads are Mirable Zero.
The hot spring water is free-flowing from the source, colorless, and has a metallic taste and smell.
The water temperature in both the indoor and open-air baths feels like about 42°C.
Both bathtubs are spacious enough for multiple people to bathe comfortably.
The private open-air bath is not that big, but you can soak in it without worrying about other people seeing you.
When I checked out, I was happy to see almost everyone there, including our mascot cat, Chappie.
I hope to come back to meet the cats again someday.
I went there hoping to meet the cats, and while I thought there would be four, there were actually six!
They were all so cute! 😊
Some cats will come to your room, but be careful, as some are not allowed in your room.
Even if they don't come to your room, there's always one (cat) in the lobby, so you can play with them.
They're often sleeping, so I just watch them, but even watching them is soothing.
The other guests weren't bothered by the cats, so it was quiet and comfortable.
Because there are only a few rooms, the baths were always available. There was also a free private bath, which I was able to use multiple times.
The open-air cypress bath was very pleasant.
I ordered the deluxe course for meals, which were typical of Yamaguchiya and were all delicious.
The hanging dolls in the lobby were also lovely.
The inn is only accessed by stairs.
The bus stop is relatively close, and there are many shops within walking distance, so it wasn't a problem even without a car.
I was soothed by the cute cats, the smiling faces of the inn staff, the delicious food, and the relaxing baths.
I'd like to visit again.
