Kanto region, Tokyo, 4-9-10 Aobadai Meguro-ku 🧭 Map
Very convenient and super friendly staff
Location is great being a 3/4 minute bus ride from Shibuya or 15 minute walk. Dorm rooms are on the smaller side and clutter from previous customer stays mean it gets a bit messy. Beds were fine. At night it was really really cold in the room (December stay) and so I struggled with this. One night music was blaring from karaoke until 06:30 in the morning. I assumed it was a nearby party or venue...
Stayed overnight for a work trip in Shibuya. Smooth check-in. Friendly staff. Very comfortable bed and sheets. I left for work and came back around 1am. It was really loud chaotic as there seemed to be some party going on on the 1st floor, and there were drunk people on the streets just outside screaming and shouting. Couldn't fall asleep until 3am. It was probably a one time thing, but management...
Room too small, no space for luggage
Shibuya is like 15 minute walk. Super easy and convenient but be mindful Tōkyō has a lot of steep sidewalks/downhills. The rooms are a bit small but the location and environment that this place has outweighs it. It definitely has a party vibe and people awake at all hours of the night. It was super fun meeting and getting to know people from all around the world. I would recommend and stay here again...
The service here made my trip! My flight arrived late and I missed check in. The front desk reached out to me by email to help find a solution. Thanks to their kindness, I did not have to sleep on the street! I truly felt so cared for staying here. Though the space is very cramped in the rooms, the hostel does as much as it can to keep things organized. Showers, bathrooms, and grooming areas complete...

Pension AJIWAI, Nasu1 / 19High rating

Kanto region, Nasu, 2888-31 Takakuko, Nasu-machi 🧭 Map
It's easily accessible from the highway. The room didn't have any special amenities, but it was well-cleaned and I had a comfortable stay. The food was mostly homemade and delicious. When I travel, portions can be too much and leave me feeling exhausted, but this was just right. I booked a bread-making service, which both the kids and adults enjoyed. The freshly baked bread was so delicious that we...
My husband and I stayed here as a couple. I used to come here every year on family trips when I was a child, and even as a child I had fond memories of it being a great place, so when we went on our recent trip to Nasu, we decided to visit for the first time in 20 years. It turned out to be just as wonderful an inn as I remembered. I learned that this year marks the 31st year of operation, and the...
Family of four (ages 2 and 5) Stayed in September 2025 The price was reasonable, the reviews were good, and we'd been staying in hotels a lot recently, so we chose this pension. I'm very satisfied with our stay. The wife's service, the thorough cleaning, and the facilities were all excellent. The couple's hospitality was very evident, and we had a comfortable and safe stay. (I wish I could have met...
Our family of four stayed here during our trip to Nasu. - The building itself isn't new, but it's very well-maintained. The owner's efforts were evident in the rooms, hallways, and bathrooms. - We had the steak plan for dinner and Japanese food for breakfast (Western breakfast is also available). It was clear that the food was homemade and carefully prepared. It was delicious and we were very full...
We stayed at this hotel for a trip with our family of three, including our 1-year-old son. The room was a Japanese-style room, and there were no furniture that children might touch. The TV and power outlets were fixed to their stands, which I felt was very considerate for traveling with children. The in-room refrigerator was also large, which was very useful as we had brought our own meals. The kids...

A great accommodation located in the heart of the city. It's close to Suitengumae Station on the Hanzomon Line and Ningyocho Station on the Hibiya and Asakusa Lines. It offers easy access to most major attractions. The area where the accommodation is located is a quiet and peaceful office/residential area, making it quite peaceful. It was also a great place to stay alone. The manager was friendly...
This older business hotel is pretty awesome to me. It has old school vibes from 80s/90s. If you are not into that and like newer designs/rooms/atmosphere, it might not be your style/preference, which is fair. The bathroom is definitely old style/small (still clean though). The rooms are spacious compared to other business hotels. There is plenty of room for 2 large carry-on suitcases and you can still...

2nd time staying here. Very well located near to TCAT, subway stations, 24/7 supermarket and convenience store! A quiet neighborhood, a perfect place if youre not a night person like me :) And also, its an old school style hotel, so you can feel the vibe of old Japanese style.
Great location for visiting many attractions, and the room is comfortable enough for a pleasant stay.

More than impressive cause of the cozy vibe and wonderful people, met a sentimental girl from Portugal and impressed even if small talks
Due to various circumstances, we ended up checking in after 9 PM, but we were still warmly welcomed. The fruit liquor available to guests at the bar and the breakfast potage and salad were both delicious! After checking out, they even looked after our luggage, allowing us to explore Kamakura at our leisure. A pretty good guesthouse; the rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff were very welcoming. Great value for money!
Located about a 15-minute walk from the station, it's actually quite close to the beach, making it suitable for surfers. Coffee and tea are available in the public areas, but you'll need to bring your own toiletries such as toothbrushes.
Overall, the stay was excellent. The location was convenient, easy to access, the environment was clean, and the staff were friendly.
It's a little far from the station, but it's close to the sea and has a very local feel. The interior of the historic building is very well-thought-out. There's a drink bar where you can enjoy freshly made coffee. I've become a big fan. Thank you for your hospitality.

Excellent, exceeding expectations. The owner was very thoughtful; because of the inconvenient transportation, they would take you to town to buy things when they had time. Breakfast and dinner were also freshly made by hand and were very delicious.
A very nice family-run guesthouse, offering a taste of living in a Japanese country villa during the Showa era – well worth it! The breakfast was excellent and very palatable. The room had two air conditioners, which was sufficient for a winter stay. You could see the distant mountains as soon as you woke up. The owner was very kind and talked about his trip to China. Also, the bus stop is quite close...
The hosts were friendly. They let us leave our suitcase until check-in, and they even carried it to our room themselves. Breakfast is at 8:00 AM, dinner at 6:00 PM. Dinner was so filling, we barely made it 😅 We were there during peak season, late October, and to get to the lake, you have to take a bus from the train station. So, you have to go to the train station first, then take the right bus. There...
We enjoyed our stay at Gasthof Ami very much. The local scenery is spectacular and the location of Gasthof Ami is excellent for enjoying the surrounding area. We only used public transit or walking while visiting the area and that worked great. Downtown Nikko is a pleasant 1 hour walk. Or if you want the bus, the stop is a 5 or 10 minute walk from the hotel. Places such as Kegan Falls, Lake Chuzenji...
Warm and hospitable, quality stay with private ons A very friendly and hospitable older couple who take care and attention, make lovely dinner and breakfast, with a quaint and private place nestled in the corner of a quiet street. There was a dog run and the dogs seemed to have a lot of fun.
It is a pension where you can stay with your dog. The owner couple are very warm, gentle and welcoming. Although it is small, there is a dog run, and the dogs are satisfied. The food is completely homemade and very healthy and delicious. It's not fancy, but it's enough to fill you up. It's a great location to escape the heat in the summer and enjoy skiing in the winter.
I stayed with my pet. The food is delicious and the facilities are beautiful. The service is also attentive. Kirara is also healed.
It is a clean and homey good pension. A delicious meal with plenty of vegetables. Toilet and bath are shared but clean. If it is with a dog, Kita Karuizawa best friend may be.
It is a pension that can be spent with Honobono. A small open-air bath is also great. I wished the food was so full of vegetables (laughs).
It was used in 2013 Feb 9-10. To enjoy snow at Karuizawa Snow Park (Wanwan Paradise, Dog Run), you can arrive in 30 minutes by car. It is very convenient geographically. I think it is a convenient place to go to a dog run both winter and summer.

It's a place that's been around for a while; the room smelled a bit off, and the mini-split air conditioner was very noisy—you either slept or you got too hot. It's only good for a short stay; I think there are better places for the price.
There was nothing missing and I was able to live comfortably, but it didn't feel clean. There was a lot of dust, the room wasn't well-maintained, and the bathroom was dirty.

I stayed here in February. The room was warm and the bath was clean. The staff were very polite and kind, and I was able to relax and enjoy my stay! I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity.
I was exhausted from my motorcycle trip and made a last-minute reservation to stay here. I was traveling alone, but I accidentally booked a double room. However, what I enjoyed most was chatting with the owner in the living room. The owner was very kind, and I felt completely at home. I didn't notice any issues with cleanliness, which others have mentioned. I would definitely like to stay here again...
It's more kind of a homestay! The owner is very nice person & very friendly! Hospitality was too good! Only thing which could be improved is the marshy smell in the room. This may be because the property is old. Shower in the room was too old. Location & surrounding is good, feels like a fair tale bungalow into woods!
This was our first stay with our two small dogs. The room was well cleaned and there was no problem. There are two baths, and you can enter when they are vacant, and you can make a reservation at night. Paid liquor, coffee, etc. were placed in the guest room passage. It is convenient because it is a quiet place a little from the street with restaurants and supermarkets in Nasu Town. It is a room without...
Appearance is good. That's why the regret inside is unavoidable. I think it would be better if I improved it based on the harsh reviews from other people, but it seems that the elderly owner is doing it alone, and he seems to have lost the meal plan due to his physical strength. There was dust and mold on the windows on the ground floor where everyone gathers. There are records and a DVD rental service...

It's very close to Kitashinagawa subway station, just at the back door, and there's a convenience store next to it. If you have enough money, don't book here.
I booked a double room, but Ctrip said it was for one adult only. In reality, it was a double dorm room, suitable for two people. This was a misleading information provided by the hotel on Ctrip. Therefore, it's best to contact the hotel to confirm your reservation. As compensation, they upgraded me to a single room for the first two days and a double dorm for the next two. Great price for such a room. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, it was a pleasure to stay. It felt like visiting a hospitable family. A great option for an overnight stay. It's located in a great area!
Very satisfied. I thought it was shabby from the pictures, but it is actually acceptable.
It is a five-minute walk from Shinagawa subway station. The front desk service is warm and thoughtful, and the details are well done. Coolest hostel I have ever stayed in Japan, the staff was so friendly and everyday was a vibe. I really enjoyed talking with the staff at night, also met some really cool solo travelers as well. The kitchen is super nice and spacious and the dinner is super cute.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and they even had a campfire BBQ at night. The hotel has a kitchen, so you can buy ingredients and cook for yourself, and there's a 7-Eleven and Lawson nearby, which is really convenient for grabbing things. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I plan to recommend it to my friends.

I think to some wanting to stay in Nikko might not realize that this is outside of the main town center but it’s so worth the extra train ride to go to this hotel/onsen after visiting the Nikko national park area. Nice local onsen hotel! It’s pretty Japan style. It’s not brand new, more over it is old. But they kept the condition and cleanness very well. Hotel stuff don’t speak English well but their politeness and friendly attitude make it no barrier.
If you're looking for a warm, traditional ryokan experience this is it! Exceptional hospitality started before we entered the building. Very good place excellent service, great food, dinner and breakfast The owner service is so nice generous safety, but still are so comfy and private A bit little barrier to this place is about the transportation that you have to drive by yourself But whatever Best
The room was clean, there was parking for 3 cars, and there was a refrigerator, but it was a bit cold (maybe because we didn't know how to set the heater, it kept stopping working by itself). There were 3 private onsens. ♨️ The owner took very good care of us.
New, fully renovated place with a hot spring. Owner was also very kind. Made kusatsu trip very enjoyable. Will visit again
There was also a hot spring in the facility. It was separated by gender, but it was used as a family charter for the time being , Happy to spend it with my partner. Great location, and walking distance to Nippori station which is one of the stop for airport Skyliner. The room and bathroom are pretty small, but they are clean, functional and cozy. If prefer to stay in a quiet neighbourhood, while close to public transportation with convenient stores and supermarket nearby, this is the place.
The front desk/reception ladies were so kind! The free coffee (hot/ice) is a lovely touch. Very clean. My only comment is that the walls are pretty thin, but it didn’t bother me. I saw a lot of families stay here and the area is residential and peaceful.
Really nice and clean with very friendly staff! We enjoyed our stay. I like that it’s in a quiet neighbourhood. It’s a little bit of a walk from the station but isn’t too bad if you haven’t got lots of luggage. Nippori is also fairly close to the places we wanted to visit in Tokyo, so it was ideal. Overall, a great place to stay!

it was a really nice stay, the location is convenient, it is 5 min walk from the station and some other tourist spots. The facilities are a bit old that the beds are making squeaky sounds and the air conditioner went from hot to cold and from cold to hot within seconds, hope they fix it.
The location is fantastic – definitely the biggest highlight of this place. The building itself is a charming wooden structure. I would definitely stay here again on a future trip to the Tokyo area as it was much more cozy and comfortable than the more...
Stayed here for 3 days and it was perfect. Walking distances to the Art gallery, Lawson, Pizza place and other nice spots. location is great. It has good showers. The bed is traditional and very cozy. a/c gets very cold. Everyone is so nice and speaks well. Very cozy and friendly.
I loved my stay here. First of all, and that is always very important to me - here I have met the most helpful and friendly hosts during my two week stay in Japan. Staying there felt homelike. Room is very comfortable and clean, also localization is great, near busy street with lots of restaurants and bars.
A well deserved 5 star experience for this traditional guest house which is located very stragically to most tourist destinations. Place is clean, quite and ambience is of godsmack quality. Very comfortable rooms with soft futon that will make you sleep ever so deeply. Owners speak decent English as well. Highly recommended for a perfect stay that won't crack your budget. A retro 9-room hotel that felt like home. Yummy western-jap breakfast & dinner. They have fixed timings for breakfast & dinner as they need to serve all guests at the same time. You may book the onsen for a one-time private couple use but we felt that the onsen is not as good as those we went in other parts of Japan. We wasn't sure what was the temperature of the water... maybe it wasn't hot enough...
Room has great view of Lake Chuzenji. Clean and Tidy. Dinner is very delicious especially the trout crusted with almond. The owner is very nice and kind.
Love this small hotel, it's view is facing the lake. Location very near to the bus station . Room is clean bed is traditional bed, quite a big room. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a surprise 6 course fine dinning , breakfast was good too. Love the onsen after our hike . Will definitely recommend to our friends .
The hosts were friendly and the young female assistant was helpful and polite. Location is great, near to the well-known fall and the lake is in front of the residence. Private onsen facilities are great though they are not available in the morning. Foods provided are in Western style and they are good, but not that great. Guests are reminded to tell the hosts on how to cook the steak, especially...
Very straight lady owner. Only give one exact time for breakfast and dinner. No English nor putongha, only Japanese.
We enjoyed very much staying at the pension. It was situated close to the bus station and with beautiful scenery of the lake. The host were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the dinner very much. It was a wonderful experience staying in the pension.
