Reviews
The room is brand new but small. The hot springs are nice and clean. The food is fantastic. The dinner service is the worst I ever experienced in such a delicate lodge. We need to use a phone to call them for everything. Such as take away the empty plates, water, rice …and etc. So I must had make 10 phone calls during the dinner.
This lodge offer their room on “booking”and has introductions cards in several different languages at the check-in counter but the servants only speaks Japanese. I would suggest the lodge prepare a translator machine for servants.
Or I should prepare translator by myself. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was absolutely amazing.
This is the perfect inn for making wonderful memories.
My husband and I have already talked about staying here again when we visit Miyazaki Prefecture. 😊
Everything about the food, rooms, sauna, and staff was excellent.
Some reviews have criticized the age of the facilities, but personally, considering this is a historic inn that opened in 1961, I don't think it's worth the worry.
This inn originally started as a restaurant, so the food is delicious.
The building is old, but it appears to have been renovated in places.
I would recommend this inn to anyone who believes there's a reason it has lasted so long.
I usually get rhinitis at regular business hotels, but I didn't get sick, so I think the inn is very clean.
I'll share my thoughts below.
◾️General
It's located in a quiet area.
The stars are beautiful to see.
There's a ranch nearby, so you might smell a bit of cows. But that was also a nice touch and we enjoyed it. 😊
Tokiwaso's large public bath has a sauna and even an open-air bath.
Sauna lovers will love the well-water cold bath.
We recommend checking in early and enjoying Tokiwaso! ♪
The lobby also stocks "Yoguruppe" from Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, as well as snacks and ice cream, a thoughtful touch.
You can also borrow books, including "Oshi no Ko," which features Kagoshima and Miyazaki.
◾️Room
We stayed in a room with an open-air bath.
It was just as I expected, a Japanese-style room, and it was fantastic. The bedroom is separate, too.
It was incredibly spacious and wonderful. 😊
It also had a terrace, which I thought was a great space to relax in after a bath.
I stayed in the winter, and it was so cold in the open-air bath that I couldn't get out. 😂
Just a word of caution. 😆
However, I was surprised that the bathwater didn't cool down at all, even during the cold winter months!
I recommend checking in early so you can enjoy the bath at your leisure! 😆
We arrived in Miyazaki Prefecture a little before noon and stayed at Takachiho Tokiwaso, so we regret arriving late. 🥲
◾️Bath
The large communal bath has an open-air bath and sauna.
A well-water cold bath and sauna hats are available for rental, perfect for sauna lovers.
The lotion provided is also "Aqua Label," which really shows how much they understand women's feelings, and it really got me excited. 😊
◾️Meals
I only had breakfast without dinner.
I heard they serve delicious Miyazaki beef in the evening, so next time I'll definitely book dinner.
Breakfast is served in a private room.
The meals are hearty and delicious!
It may be a winter menu, but we had "oden" for breakfast. It was well-seasoned and delicious.
◾️Other
The staff were friendly and I had a very pleasant stay.
Your consideration was very kind and is one of the reasons I want to visit again.
Thank you so much.
I will definitely stay here again!
It seemed like a group of tourists had arrived on a tour bus that day.
It seemed like we had been forgotten about, because even after we finished the appetizers of our course meal, the next course didn't come, and even after we ordered drinks, they took a long time to bring them.
We had to call on the phone in our room and they finally brought them.
This happened a couple of times, and the person who brought them was a foreigner, so we had trouble communicating, so it was a very disappointing dinner party.
My father passed away last year after a medical emergency, but he was doing his best to recover and looking forward to his grandchild's first meal.
I still regret that the dinner party turned out like that.
If they had exceeded their capacity, they shouldn't have taken on the request, and I never want to use their services again.
It was in a quiet location and the clientele was of a moderate demographic, so we had a very relaxing time.
We booked a room-only stay, but were still very satisfied.
The room was spacious, and we were immersed in the lovely smell of incense.
It was a great trip.
I would definitely stay here again
I was really impressed by the high quality of the food served, but it was a shame that I couldn't use the open-air bath.
I'd like to go again if I have the opportunity.
Thank you very much.
The food was also very delicious.
