Description
Phoenix Seagaia Ocean Tower in Miyazaki, Japan, is a sizable 4-star resort hotel offering 743 rooms with a variety of layouts from standard to luxury suites, including many with ocean views. The hotel stands 154 meters tall, providing panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean and adjacent long-established golf courses, some illuminated at night. Rooms are spacious, starting at over 50 square meters, and feature Sheraton’s proprietary beds designed for superior sleep comfort. The property includes a range of facilities such as hot springs (onsen), a spa, fitness center, tennis courts, and multiple dining options including buffet restaurants. Renovated in August 2016, the hotel maintains a clean and well-kept environment. Guests highlight the large rooms and ocean views, along with free parking and shuttle service to nearby attractions. Note that pets and service animals are not allowed, and breakfast is served as a Western and Japanese buffet with additional fees.
Location
The hotel is located in Hamayama Yamasakicho, Miyazaki, Japan, with coordinates 31.95903 latitude and 131.46994 longitude. It is beachfront, providing direct access to the sea and scenic pine tree forests. Nearby dining options include Sushi restaurant “寿司処 八潮” just 6 meters away, and Chinese restaurant “中国料理 藍海” and another restaurant “ふかみ,” both 26 meters from the hotel. The location is somewhat remote, so renting a car is recommended for visiting local attractions, shopping areas, or Miyazaki city itself. The hotel offers free parking and a free bike rental service to explore the surroundings. While the beach and golf courses are close, other amenities require transportation.

Reviews
Onsen is also beautiful.
My only complaint is that the pool has never been open at night. When it was open during the day it was crowded with kids. It would be great to have a separate adults-only pool, with drinks, open into the evening. That would make for a true resort experience.
The not so good:
- The place is huge and you get 0 information during checkin (yes I did speak japanese with them), you're expected to find out everything yourself which is ok, but not for the price that the hotel costs. It felt more like a cheap business hotel. Although I usually at least get the information where the elevator is and where you can get breakfast but not even that was provided. Later realized that there is a map of the place, would've been usefull
- The food (we had the buffet style dinner plan) The quality and choice of the dinner is really bad. Everyone in our group agreed to this. The alcohol is either a all you can drink or a small beer starting at 900 Yen. I would absolutely not recommend a dinner plan and look for a better and more reasonable priced place in the vincinity
- This brings me to the last point, you need a rental car to enjoy the location if you want to move freely, mainly because there's nothing close to the hotel (but we were aware of this factor and I don't count it as a minus in the rating)
So why only two stars? I would ask myself if I come back to a hotel when rating it and here I do have to say that I would absolutely not. There are much nicer places and better offerings for a weekend or resort style gate-away
Service - Staff are generally nice but had a bad experience using the onsen. Forgot to take the towel at the entrance and when I asked for help from the male staff, he did help but gave attitude. If you do not want people to forget towels then keep them inside the onsen like what many other onsen does!
Another thing I dislike about Sheraton is that somehow they are super cheapo when it comes to room slippers. It is of the worst possible quality. Seriously, how much does a decent slipper cost? Just add it to the room pricing.
Also, they assume everything has small feet? It only comes with one size and it is ridiculously small. Many other cheaper hotels that I stayed in gave them in two sizes and had much better quality. E.g. Stayed in Holiday Inn Express Hondae in this trip as well and the slippers were much better despite being a 3 star hotel. (Also stayed in Incheon Sheraton just a week ago and they had the same issue)
One more thing about Sheraton is that they somehow used very poor quality pillows. Gave me neck aches.
Location - This depends on what you want to do. If you want to play golf then it is good, otherwise it is so-so.
Overall, after staying at several different hotels for this 2-months tour of Korea and Japan including Incheon Sheraton and Miyazaki Sheraton. I do not think Sheraton will be a brand that I will choose going forward. It is often more expensive but at the same time does not deliver quality.
