ANA Holiday Inn Iwate Kitakami by IHG in Kitakami

The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Kitakami JR train station. When you walk in, you are greeted with vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling windows overlooking some beautiful foliage outside.
The rooms are nice and spacious as well as modern. There is a public bath as well as a bar/restaurant. The hotel is clearly well maintained and beautiful. Even with our limited Japanese level, the front desk was still kind enough to try and accommodate us to the best of their abilities with their patience and meeting us at our Japanese level.
The real reason to stay here is the hospitality. My friend and I were traveling in Iwate when it started to rain heavily. This caused us to cancel our original plans and head to the hotel early. We had asked if we could store our luggage with them until check out time and they were happy to accommodate. While starting the process to store our luggage, they discovered that our room was ready early and offered to allow us to check in early. This gesture truly was above and beyond because after running around miserably wet from the rain, it was nice to be able to check into our room early and take a nice warm bath and dry off.

The hotel is in a very convenient and great location. However, the highlight for me was the room—it was surprisingly spacious for a Japanese hotel. From the room, you can enjoy a beautiful riverside view, which made the stay even more special. If you visit in April, the cherry blossoms along the river are absolutely stunning. I was truly impressed and had a wonderful experience. 🌸

We stayed here for 2 nights to go skiing in Geto Kogen. The hotel was newly renovated and very clean, much like a business hotel. Hotel rooms size are decent which can fit 2 snowboard bags and a luggage. There is an indoor onsen at the basen ment which was value added.

The front desk at Holiday Inn Iwate Kitakami was incredibly hospitable, especially Ms. Sugawara. On January 31, 2026, I was warmly welcomed and introduced to the hotel by Ms. Sugawara, who made the introduction clear and polite. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be returning soon.

Newly renovated hotel with spacious rooms and nice river view. Japanese and western style daily buffet breakfast included. There's also a public bath, coin laundry, fitness room and free parking for hotel guests. Excellent location as it's near the train station. The only thing is they blocked the smart TV features so I couldn't watch YouTube, Netflix etc. Hotel staff are nice and offered to change rooms for our friends. I'd definitely come back to this hotel if I visit Kitakami again!

A very reliable stay with high standards. The room was spotless and the staff were professional and helpful. It provided a perfect, stress-free start to my Tohoku trip.

Big hotel, good in management, room clean and buffet breakfast has many choice, many car park space too.

The hotel breakfast was excellent. While it didn't offer as many varieties as a five-star hotel in China, everything was of superb quality. The hotel also has its own hot spring and a gym, though no sauna. The rooms are smaller than what you'd find back home, but other than that, everything else was a plus. The park behind the hotel is perfect for a morning run; I did ten kilometers there.

Decent clean rooms... small with basic amenities. Room interior fittings looks new, but the bathtub was a tad old. Location is fairly near Kitakami JR station, say 10 or 15mins walk. There's a nice river view facing the back, and good for morning stroll. All else, it was a short transit stopover stay for my group. Hadn't use any of their facilities

The room felt like it had just been renovated, with a sleek and modern design that was both stylish and welcoming. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged, making the space feel brand-new and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was fully equipped with everything I could possibly need even lotion which showed amazing attention to detail. I also loved having a coffee machine, air purifier, and a convenient USB-C port right by the bed.

The biggest highlight for me was the choice of both firm and soft pillows, just like at home. As someone who often has trouble sleeping in hotels, this small touch made a huge difference and gave me the best sleep I’ve had on a trip in a long time.

The washing machines, dryer, and relaxing public bath made my trip also a lot easier. Special thanks to the kind older gentleman on the night shift who warmly introduced the public bath. The service was equally outstanding.

Every detail of my stay was clearly designed with guests’ comfort in mind. It truly felt like a home away from home, and I can’t wait to return!
