The TV's battery was low and I couldn't change the channel while in bed.
Also, the TV remote didn't have a timer, so I was worried I'd fall asleep and leave it on until morning, which kept me awake.
Maybe there was a control but I just didn't know how to operate it?
There was a buffet as a group was staying, but for 2,000 yen, there were very few dishes and I couldn't get coffee, so I felt it was very...
Most hotels check out time is 11 o'clock, but this one 10 o'clock, when I check in asked if 11 o'clock check out, the staff replied that extended check out need to add 2000 yen, so we even did not extend check out time, to the next day 10:05 just carrying luggage to leave the hotel room, the room phone rang.
The location is great and the breakfast was good for the price.
Since it was during Golden Week, there was a line for breakfast, but the turnover rate was good and the employees were frequently restocking.
It was used at the end of November 2021. The hotel is located on the right side of Kitakami Station, and there is a two-story parking lot on a flat surface and behind the hotel.
Stable route-in. Cleaning is said to be chitin, but is the building a little old? There are only two outlets and I borrowed an extension cord to use the humidifier. It's a little inconvenient because there is no outlet at the...

All the staff were very polite and attentive, which made my stay very pleasant!
The staff were very kind and helpful, which I appreciated.
However, although it was advertised that amenities and nightwear were available, they weren't, which was disappointing.
The hotel was clean and the included breakfast was a nice bonus!
Parking was also free.
I would definitely like to stay here again when I travel to the Tohoku region.
It was conveniently located near the station. I was able to choose the amenities I needed, and the breakfast buffet was available from early morning with a decent variety, which I appreciated.
I used this hotel for business this time.
It's located right in front of the station, making it very easy to find. There's a Lawson convenience store within walking distance, which was very convenient.
There aren't many restaurants nearby, so those who prefer eating out might find it a little inconvenient, but it should be fine for those who are content with eating at the hotel or buying convenience...
True to the Toyoko Inn chain, the location is excellent, and it is nice that they offer a free breakfast. (There are various options available in addition to what is shown in the photos.) You must use the underground passage to get to JR Station. Bars and other establishments were located near the JR Station.
There is also a shuttle bus from Hanamaki Airport.

[Close to the station, super-fast Wi-Fi, a great option for business travelers, but be careful with parking]
▼I stayed in a single room for a business trip in early December 2025. It was well-equipped for business use and extremely convenient as a base for activities around Kitakami Station.
The room was compact but functional, and the Wi-Fi speed was particularly noteworthy. It was extremely fast...
Although it said there was a large public bath, it was listed as "for men only." If that's the case, please correct the information.
There was a smoking floor, so the whole hotel had a strong cigarette smell. Especially in the elevator.
The price was cheap but the comfort was satisfactory. The soba restaurant on the first floor of the hotel was cheap and delicious, and the breakfast was surprisingly cheap but very delicious.
I think the room itself was generally clean.
However, there were few amenities and I could hear people in other rooms, but considering the price I was satisfied.
The front desk staff were very helpful and responded quickly.
The hotel staff were also new and very pleasant.
It was a snowy day, but they even cleared the snow off our cars in the parking lot, which was very nice.
It's very close to JR Kitakami Station. It's a very comfortable stay and the staff's service is very friendly. There is only a convenience store near the station. If you check in after nine o'clock in the evening, it is best to buy something delicious and drinkable in advance.

I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Route‑Inn. The hotel is very convenient, located only about 5 minutes from the airport. The hotel and the room were clean and well maintained. The room size is compact but comfortable.
One of the things I really liked was the large window in the room, which allowed me to relax and watch the snow falling outside — it was very beautiful and romantic.
The breakfast...
Good location and near to the airport. I would say it is a very practical hotel to stay over while waiting for flight.
It meet all the needs, have a bath house vending machine, washing machine etc... Breakfast was also pretty good.
Taxi to airport was less than 10 mintutes and about 1100Yen. Can't really hear any planes flying so can sleep peacefully as well.
Hotel Staff was also helpful in booking...
very far from the site but hotel is nice and clean
The water in the large public bath was very hot. It was difficult to soak in the water for a long time. The breakfast was very delicious. I was able to relax.
I thought maybe I'd go to Marukan Shokudo for the first time in a while, and when I checked the reservation site, I was lucky to find that a twin room was available, so I made a reservation right away. The room was on the top floor, on the south side, so even more bravo!
The room itself is Route Inn quality as expected.
It's close to the main road, but it's not noisy at all. There are air conditioners...
Since it is a route inn, I don't think it is very different from other route ins.
good point
・There is a ramen shop outside.
There is Yakiniku (grilled meat) and Kourakuen in the immediate vicinity (there is one that you can see) and a little further away.
disappointing point
・Far from the airport and Shinkansen.
As others have written, it's a little far from the airport. Even more so at Shinkansen...

The room was nice, spacious, and comfortable. The main highlight is the hot springs, with a wide variety of options. I especially recommend the hot springs in the side buildings, as they have better facilities. Breakfast and dinner are buffet-style with a good selection of food. There's live instrumental music every night during dinner, and folk performances in the hotel lobby every evening. The shuttle...
Good hotel for onsen and stay. The dinner buffet was great.
There are four to five different hot springs to choose from, making it the hotel with the most options currently available. The evening performance is free and quite spectacular. The food is of above-average quality, with crab legs served for dinner, but if you're only looking for the food, you wouldn't choose this hotel.

Very relaxing hot spring
Hongyekan is located in Hanamaki Onsen Village. It costs about 3,400 yen to take a taxi from the airport. The hotel facilities are newer than expected. It should have been renovated. The hotel rooms are also quite large. You can soak in the hot springs of three joint hotels. The meals feel thoughtful. Although there are not many types, the ingredients are good. A hot spring inn with a Showa-era feel♨️.
The rooms are old-fashioned with thin walls and you can hear the TV next door, but the good thing is that there are plenty of hot springs.
The elevators are unusually fast.
All the staff were really friendly, so I'd love to go back if I have the chance.
The three hotels are connected, so it was fun to go around the baths.
Because my train was delayed, I missed the shuttle bus and had to pay 4700 yen for a taxi, which was really expensive... The hotel facilities were excellent, the onsen was very nice, the dinner was delicious, and the colorful lights in the Hanamaki Onsen area outside the hotel were also very beautiful.
The three hotels are connected and have a total of four hot springs. A shuttle bus is available to the train station and airport, but advance reservations are required. There are many scenic spots nearby, but the location is somewhat remote, and there aren't many shops nearby.
The dinner buffet was spacious, with a wide variety of delicious items. The desserts and ice cream, in particular, seemed ordinary at first glance, but the matcha financier and rose ice cream were unforgettable. As for the hot springs, all three rooms offered bathing options, adding to the fun. However, in my personal experience, the hot springs at the Momiji-kan were more varied, while the new hot...
The hotel is actual one of three hotels linked together, can use onsen from other hotels. Onsen is nice.
Buffet foods are good and have wide range of choices. A pity that the adjacent Rose Garden is close due to winter.

Very good location. Close to convenient stores and many great restaurants beside ! Very clean and good service.
The best thing about this hotel is that check-out is at 11am and you can get draft beer! Enjoying takeout dinner and a beer in my room is a really relaxing time for me.
Is it just me, or does the bathroom seem larger than other hotels?
The front desk staff are also very kind, making this one of my favorite hotels.
The hotel staff were very kind and helpful, especially towards foreigners. Some of the reception staff could speak English, which really helped during the check-in process. We also appreciated the free bicycle rental service — it was a great way to explore the town, and we were able to return the bikes safely without any issues. Overall, a pleasant and welcoming stay!
The hotel is conveniently located in the city center, with many restaurants nearby, including yakiniku (grilled meat), ramen shops, and izakayas (Japanese pubs).
The hotel has parking, but it's not free.
There's a rooftop hot spring bath, but unfortunately, it's only for male guests on weekdays (Monday to Friday). Female guests can only use it during specific times on Saturdays and Sundays.
I've stayed here several times, and it's definitely worth a repeat stay. If you're visiting Kitakami, definitely consider this hotel. The biggest draw is the rooftop bath. It has an open-air bath, sauna, cold water bath, and even a massage chair. I stayed in a twin room, but I used the bed as storage, which was convenient. Unlike business hotels, it doesn't have a unit bath or toilet, which I personally...

I was stunned when I walked out from East exit of Kitakami station, then I arrive the hotel. The room is clean and good, breakfast is ok,
I lost my doll, after i checked out and when I recognized it, I came back, and they kept it for me. I really love it.
The location is great as it's just right across the JR station.
I stayed at 4 different hotels and i love their breakfast the most among the four hotels as they have mixed grain rice and fresh juices.
They have two menus and swap it everyday so it's not that bad if you have longer stay, and I stayed 5 nights.
Free parking is included. Room is a bit small but still sufficient to lay out my snowboard...
One minutes walk to JR station. One minute walk to shuttle bus to Geto ski ressort.
The parking next to the hotel is very limited but there is a multi level parking nearby which is pretty good . And the nearby laundromat is so awesome , with robust machines and at a reasonable charge. The breakfast is a bonus for those who need med to fuel up before you hit the road .
Excellent location (very near to the station); good breakfast spread.
opposite to JR Station ( just 1 min walk), very convenient location. My room can view the Kitakami Cherry Blossom iconic site directly 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Simple buffet breakfast in lobby was great
Room was small but cozy & clean

I've stayed at many hot spring hotels, but this one was exceptional in every way, with a great attention to detail. Even the fresh flowers on the wall outside the room were changed daily. A high-end hot spring hotel with a tranquil surrounding environment, spacious rooms, attentive service, and high-quality food – an unforgettable experience.
The views and cuisine were superb, but what truly elevated our experience was the staff's exceptional and meticulous service. We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere and indulged in the outdoor hot spring multiple times, leaving both our minds and bodies completely rejuvenated.

Quiet and peaceful, not crowded. There are many onsen baths to choose from, perfect for relaxation. I will definitely go back again.
The hotel's surroundings are beautiful and refreshing, making it an excellent vacation spot.
This is a very high-quality hot spring resort with many baths to choose from. I stayed here in January, and several of the outdoor baths were particularly charming. Soaking my feet in the warm, hot water while it snowed was a beautiful experience, with a stream and mountain views. The rooms were also very spacious and clean. It's a highly recommended place.
How do I describe this hotel? In one word: amazing. It was my first time experiencing a mixed-gender bath from over a century ago. I was truly impressed! The elderly gentlemen were just casually strolling around without a care in the world. Families, you absolutely must try the mixed-gender outdoor hot spring bath. Good pricing for 2 nights stay, 2 people. The pillows are rock hard. The A/C works pretty well tho. Just like any other hotel, soap, shampoo, conditioner are all provided. Even razors with shave soap and toothbrush/toothpaste.
A good distance away from the train station so it's pretty quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good if you're checking out the sakura and need a place to cool your heels.
A good enough hotel for one night. A very good service; however, the building and facilities are outdated, comparing with the other 5 APA Hotels I have stayed so far. The bathroom facilities, the mattress and the "only male onsen" are the main negative points in this regard. I believe APA Hotel group will take of these points.

The hotel is in a very convenient and great location. However, the highlight for me was the room—it was surprisingly spacious for a Japanese hotel. From the room, you can enjoy a beautiful riverside view, which made the stay even more special. If you visit in April, the cherry blossoms along the river are absolutely stunning. I was truly impressed and had a wonderful experience. 🌸
We stayed here for 2 nights to go skiing in Geto Kogen. The hotel was newly renovated and very clean, much like a business hotel. Hotel rooms size are decent which can fit 2 snowboard bags and a luggage. There is an indoor onsen at the basen ment which was value added.
The front desk at Holiday Inn Iwate Kitakami was incredibly hospitable, especially Ms. Sugawara. On January 31, 2026, I was warmly welcomed and introduced to the hotel by Ms. Sugawara, who made the introduction clear and polite. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be returning soon.

This was my first time staying here. Just down the street from the bus stop, the historic building came into view, which got me excited. There are various hot springs here, some of which are open to women at certain times, so I kept that in mind as I explored. I stayed in the main building. There's no toilet or sink, but it's not particularly inconvenient, and the rustic feel really makes you feel...
There is a ryokan section and a hot spring treatment section. I stayed in a 10-tatami room facing the mountain stream in the ryokan section for two nights. It was great to be able to hear the sound of the river. There is no toilet in the room, but it wasn't an inconvenience. The hot spring is a natural hot spring and is very pleasant. The staff, including the foreigners, were very friendly.
It was a two-day, one-night solo trip to a hot spring.
Recently I've been staying at hot spring inns more often, so facilities and service are not subject to review.
The hot springs lived up to my expectations and I was satisfied. There weren't many foreign tourists, so I was able to enjoy myself at a leisurely pace.
However, it does get cold inside the inn at night, so you'll need to wear warm clothing...
The Shirazaru no Yu bath, carved out of a single rock, is a 1.3m deep standing bath that is the only one of its kind. There are about four baths, but they are alternated between men and women, so please note that the bathing times are not convenient for women. The newly built sauna has a fun wall decoration with silhouettes of Miyazawa Kenji and a bear.
The hot springs are great, and the food is better than expected, but there is no air conditioning. If you come in summer, be careful. The hotel does not have independent toilets and bathrooms, and the sound insulation is also slightly poor.
Based on the reviews here, I stayed in a room facing the stream in the main building (ryokan section) of a wooden building built in the Showa period. It was a great choice. The environment was comfortable, and the staff were polite and provided good service. The rooms were clean, the breakfast and dinner were delicious and plentiful, the hot spring environment was also very nice, and there was a happy hour with complimentary drinks. Although the price was slightly expensive, it provided a correspondingly good accommodation experience.
The rooms are all-style, each with its own hot spring pool. The hot spring water is over 60 degrees Celsius. Children under 12 are not allowed. The hotel is very quiet, and the public hot spring pool is not crowded. It is a sulfate spring with beautiful scenery. Meals are all in private rooms, ensuring good privacy. Some rooms on the first floor have courtyards with hot spring pools.
The hotel offers a wide range of services, including free use of the lobby, ice cream after a bath, and drinks, and above all, the hospitality of the staff was excellent, making my stay very pleasant (sorry for making me carry heavy bags despite my big belly). I would definitely like to stay at this hotel again. Thank you very much.

Nice place! I particularly enjoyed the river view from my private onsen. Be sure to also check out the public onsens at Fujisan ryokan (connected via an indoor walkway). The hosts here are great, especially the guy from Nepal who helped me check in. He spoke great English and was super welcoming. Would return.
Kokoro no Toki, Jusangatsu is the most modern onsen hotel I have ever stayed. It is nothing like most of the traditional onsens I have visited. Jusangatsu is new generation of onsen, it is set up more like an up-market apartment, everything they do is to impress. And They have done that. Importantly, the chef ought to be complimented for the superb dinner.

Kitakami, Yamada-2-26 Aisaricho, 024-0051 Kitakami, Prefektura Ivate, Yaponiya (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
Recommended for those traveling by car on business trips.
I usually look for hotels near Kitakami Station, but when I expanded my search area, this one came up.
It's a little far to walk, but it's less than 10 minutes by car.
Although it's a business hotel, I stayed in a Japanese-style room, which was very relaxing. They also offer plans that include breakfast and dinner, and the price is very reasonable...
A special Japanese-style room for ¥4,800, with two meals included!
It also has a large public bath.
The food was delicious and filling.
The room above the boiler room wasn't too bad.
The cleaning was impeccable, and the staff were very friendly.
For the past few years, I've been staying here for multiple nights almost every time I come to Kitakami for work. 👍️
I plan to continue using this hotel, but it seems like it's been going astray over the past few months...
The TV in the restaurant has been removed, and background music is playing from a skeleton speaker, but sometimes they forget to play it, making dinner quiet...
I used to watch...
This time I came for snowboarding.
My friend and I stayed in a Tatami room. The room has sufficient space for us to unpack 2 snowboard bags.
The toilet is shared and there is a public bath at first floor which is pretty good!
The parking is free. And breakfast and dinner are delicious and nutritious. Highly recommend to book this hotel for long stay or vacations!
