This is a no fuss hotel which is clean, though old. The bath is actually in the train station itself. While it is located just within the train station (you can see the trains literally outside of the window facing the tracks), the sound insulation is superb, you hardly can hear the trains. It is actually really suitable for train fans (and since it's run by JR) and it is fascinating to see that the commuter trains actually share the same tracks as the high-speed trains (Tsubasa and the new E8 type).

An affordable hotel next to Takahata Station.
The entrance to the hot spring ♨️ is right next to the ticket gate, which is quite an interesting design!❗️You have to cross the ticket gate to get to the bath from your room.😊
For dinner, I ate my fill at the yakiniku restaurant next door, which was cheap.✌️There's also a convenience store, but it closes early, so be sure to come early!❗️
Everyone at the yakiniku restaurant and the convenience store were nice, but one older hotel staff member had been bothering me since check-in. I remember the person who stayed there in January 2026 being the worst. It's a bad memory.
I'll be staying here again in March 2026.
A different older staff member was very polite and assisted me until check-out.

The sauna and cold bath were great! The hotel was average. If you just go there to use the sauna, it's worth a try.
I love saunas, but the bath and cold bath adjacent to the hotel were amazing. It's worth trying.

Cold bath: ◎◎: A two-person cold bath in a solarium that's practically outdoors. It's constantly filled with cold water, so it's freezing cold.
At 14°C, you can soak for a minute, but here, you can only soak up to your knees for 5 seconds.
I think the water temperature was below 10°C.
Elderly lady at the front desk: ◎: Her explanations in dialect were soothing.
On the other hand, the following items were disappointing, so don't expect too much.
Breakfast: △: Breakfast at hot springs in Yamagata is lavish, but this one was mediocre.
Dinner: △: The photos looked delicious, though...

I stayed at this hotel to enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot spring next to Takahata Station, which hotel guests can use as many times as they like. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, and it was a very comfortable hotel to stay at.
To use the hot spring, you receive a hot spring voucher from the front desk, and the hot spring is an alkaline simple spring that is gentle on the skin, so I ended up soaking in it three times.
The next morning, I tried using it in the bath in my room, and the tub was larger than in a typical business hotel, allowing for a relaxing soak.
The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning was comfortable, and the hotel is easily accessible as it's next to the station, so I plan to stay here again when I'm sightseeing in the area.

"Station hotel" is this hotel's catchphrase, so I think that anyone who likes trains will flock to this hotel. After all, the platform is only seven steps from where I stayed in Room 106, so it's so close that you can wave and talk to the Shinkansen trains passing by. Currently, the two Shinkansen trains stop at the same time once a day in the morning, so even people who don't like trains are sure to be impressed, so I highly recommend it. For dinner, the Takahata wine was delicious, so I think the yakiniku bento would be good. The room doesn't have any noise or vibrations from the trains, but the soundproofing between the rooms is not very good and sounds from the next room can leak in. There is a TV next to the pillow in the room opposite, so if you want a quiet stay, you should consider a corner room. Also, breakfast is included, which was nice.

Wanting to experience the town's history, I stayed at the hotel with the breakfast set again. I had stayed here three times in the past and had no particular complaints, so naturally I stayed again. However, the breakfast provided this time was particularly bad, not meeting the standard of quality and taste that a hotel would provide, and the staff's response to my requests was also poor. Perhaps because breakfast is outsourced, the staff's reaction was that it was someone else's problem, and they did not take it seriously as if they were the parties involved, and the level of customer service was low. The food was all fried, it was cold, and the piece of fish smelled fishy.

I stayed here for the first time. A hotel right in the station. Dinner is a set meal of grilled meat and beer at the breakfast venue. Very satisfied with the meat. Hot spring ♨️ also OK many times. After the Mogami River morning run, the breakfast was delicious and the milk tasted great! The trip discount coupon was used for yokan and local bread. I am very satisfied. ❗️

First time staying. It feels like an ordinary business hotel, but the station platform can be seen from the window of the room on the track side, so it seems to be popular with people who like trains.
Guests can enter the adjacent day-trip hot spring for free, but the bathtub is not very large, and it was quite crowded with locals. I used the yakiniku restaurant next door, which is a hotel restaurant, for dinner, but the lunch seemed to be very cost-effective.

It's very plain, but it's a good hotel where you can spend a comfortable time.

The polite staff and the wonder of staying in the station building made me feel like I was traveling, and it was a wonderful stay!
The surrounding area was well maintained and I had a pleasant morning walk!
The breakfast is also powerful and personally satisfying!
Next time I use it, I would like to enjoy Yamagata beef grilled meat!
