Holiday Village Retreat in Ukulhas

After completing our 1 month stay on different local islands in the Maldives this was the only time we were severely disappointed by the service. It all started when on arrival no one was at the port to meet us, and I had to call the property This happened although after making the booking I contacted Bary several times to confirm our booking, arrival time etc. Bary finally arrived to the port and explained us that he had overbooking, so we had to wait at some restaurant for him to sort it out. Finally he found us a place, which I can describe only as very low quality guest house, several levels below what we were supposed to get at Holiday Village Retreat. The room rate of another guest house was also much lower then Holiday Village Retreat rate. After we explained Bary that we did not like the replacement property, he told us that he will try to book another guesthouse for the rest of our stay. However after I contacted him several times during the day, at the evening he said that everything else was fully booked. Therefore we decided to look at the surrounding islands and found perfect place at Mathiveri. After confirming the availability with the owners of another guest house I contacted Bary and asked him to pay for that property, but he did not agree explaining that the other property was too expensive: the difference was around 40 dollars per night. We decided to move there anyway next morning and pay for the new accommodation ourselves, it was already too late to move on the same day, since we waited until the evening for Bary to find us a better option. Finally Bary reluctantly agreed to pay for one night that we had to spend at Bodufolhudhoo guest house, he had put us in and to refund the money that we prepaid on Agoda. I believe that the reason for this ordeal was that I booked this stay long before check in date and the prices went up after I made the booking. Therefore Bary decided to keep higher paying guests and to dump us to the cheaper guest house. We lost entire day fighting with Bary for the suitable accommodation. If you search other reviews of this property, you will find similar cases. Overall if I could I would give this property -1 star - 1 star is simply too much for this kind of service - it is real fraud.

one day before arrival we were told that the resort was full and we had to go to a bed & breakfast of the neighbors.
considerable downgrade, what they have compensated with 3 free excursions.
The food would still take place at the holiday village retreat.
We have never eaten so badly than there.
And if the price later sees the price, it was absolutely not worth it.
We also had bad luck with the island itself, it is one of the smallest islands where tourism has not been anticipated.
