Maria's B&B in Ghasri

We stayed here 2 nights as part of a 12-day trip in Malta and Gozo. Victor, the host, is a very affable and enthusiastic host with a host of knowledge about the surrounding area and the history of Malta in general. Our room (Room 1) was fantastically rustic, befitting the age of the building, but also furnished to a high standard. Breakfast was probably the best we had in Malta with a great cereal selection, including all the usual seeds, freshly cooked omelettes, fresh fruit and delicious bread with homemade preserves. The B&B is about 8 minutes from Victoria by car (which is useful) but it’s worth it because the peace and tranquility is better than the hustle and bustle of Victoria. We didn’t use the pool but it would be great May to September. Thanks to Victor and all the staff there for a wonderful stay.

We had an amazing stay with Victor and the team. The place was beautiful, our room was extremely comfortable and clean, we loved everything about our stay. We had an accident on day 2, I broke my wrist and my friend gashed her head in a fall on the beach. Victor was extremely helpful and drove us to the chemist to get a prescription and stopped off at the supermarket to pick water up for us to save us carrying it back. He was very knowledgeable about the area and loved to have a bit of banter! It was a great place to recuperate, the food was really tasty having breakfast of your choice cooked to order. The homemade breads, cakes and jams were the best. Wished we could stay longer as everything was perfect, we would love to return

Fantastic location, very central for lots of great places to visit, providing you have a car, everything is 10-15mins. A couple of good restaurants are 30mins walk away. The hosts were really friendly and helpful and gave us lots of good advice about places to visit. We had room 8 which has the hot tub on its balcony, which was a lovely romantic spot for a glass of wine watching sunset, ( the hot tub is lovely and cool in 30degree heat) The pool is lovely, breakfast was great and the staff will make you pretty much anything you want. We didn’t use the kitchen facilities but they looked very good. Only 1 negative, no shower, just a bath with a hand held shower head.

This was a lovely and cosy place to stay, being a converted traditional farmhouse, which gave it real character. The pool was a welcome addition after a hot day exploring but the best thing was the attention we received from the family owners and the staff who were very welcoming and friendly and gave us many good tips of where to visit or eat on the island, as well as information about Malta and Gozo's history. We were also served a wonderful breakfast every morning in the courtyard, freshly made to order. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Absolutely amazing, Victor and his ladies made our stay, nothing was too much trouble

Finally getting around to leaving a review of the wonderful Maria’s BnB in Gozo, where I stayed last June. I knew I was in for a treat when I booked 4 nights at Maria’s BnB, but I was totally unprepared for how much I would fall in love with this charming place. From the moment I stepped in the front door, I could just feel the history of this yellow limestone farmhouse, especially when I was handed the big medieval keys for my room and for the main entrance. One of the owners, Victor, met me at the entrance when I arrived and gave me the grand tour of the farmhouse, showing me where breakfast would be, the common areas, guest kitchen facilities (guests are allocated space in the fridge and can use the well-appointed kitchen to prepare meals) and finally my wonderful room #4 on the 2nd floor, which had a spacious sitting area, double bed, large walk-in shower, and large, lit elevated alcoves that added to the medieval atmosphere of the room. Across from my room was a spacious balcony overlooking the countryside and the beautiful pool, a great place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing, listening to the birds chirping—all so very serene and tranquil. I really enjoyed the quiet, homey vibe of Maria’s, and the fact that guests, once checked in, pretty much had the run of the place, only seeing staff at breakfast time. Breakfast, served on a patio near the pool, was delicious: home baked loaves and breads, cappuccino, continental and English breakfast. I found it held me all day until dinner time. Maria’s BnB is well situated to explore just about any part of the island by car. The BnB is located in a quiet village and there is handy parking on the street right in front of Maria’s. Ta Pinu, one of Malta’s most sacred shrines, is within walking distance. There’s a handy food mart close by, too. When I first arrived, I asked Victor for restaurant recommendations and he recommended wonderful ones in Xaghra and Marsalforn, and I also found lovely ones in Xlendi Bay. The farmhouse is not wheelchair accessible nor is there an elevator; however, for anyone with mobility issues like myself, there are really sturdy railings on both sides of the staircase leading up to the 1st and 2nd floors of the main house, where the rooms are. This was important for me to know before I booked here. Thank you, Victor and Sonia (who I met unknowingly while lost in Marsalforn) for running such a lovely bed and breakfast. I truly hope to come back again soon.

We enjoyed a three night stay at Maria’s. Chris and everyone was so lovely, the room was great as was breakfast, there was also a lovely pool to cool off in. You could travel around Gozo by bus but we hired a car which made lunch and dinner is easier, there is an equipped kitchen at the bnb you could use so a trip to supermarket is sometimes all you needed. Chris made some great suggestions of places to visit which we took up and added to our visit.

The place is kept clean every day and is a place to spend some relaxing time. Bedrooms are equipped with either a shower or a bath. Breakfast is super delicious and prepared fresh everyday. The staff is super friendly and even the owners. Would go again.
