UB Guesthouse & Tours - Not for Locals in Ulan Bator

Pretty decent hostel. Did the shared dormitory for 6 people. Beds are fine, no curtain however. Entrances to other rooms are in the dormitory room, thus I recommend earplugs.
No lockers, but you can stash your things for a tiny fee with the owner. Laundery service available for a price.
Toilet and showers are gender seperate. Very clean, but the showers sometimes don't have hot water and one time, oddly, it had no cold water, only very hot. It might have to do with the city facilities.
There is no breakfast, but the bakery around the corner does serve really good breakfast and coffee.

Now, the owner, Bobby, is an absolute legend. Always helpful and she manages so many tours at a really good price. Even for people who aren't staying at her guesthouse.
If you're in UB for some tours, I highly recommend this place.
I did the Gobi tour and Terelj national park.
Bobby also organised our Tsaatan tour in the north, although it is managed by a different guesthouse.

If you don't know how to plan your trip to Mongolia, stay at UB guesthouse and Bobbi will take care of it through her impressive network of contact. We just showed up one day and Bobbi had a full 7 day itinerary ready for us in a matter of hours. Both drivers we were given were super kind, professional and fun. The locations were very authentic and avoided mass-tourism. I work in designing tours and I can say Bobbi is amongst the most talented fixers I've met.

The hostel itself is small yet cozy and very clean, a good homebase to start an adventure in Mongolia.

Bobby, the owner, is a gem. We stayed one month in Mongolia and booked everything with her and it was amazing! The hostel is very clean and has a good location. And she has wonderful drivers and cooks for the tours. We would recommend her guesthouse and the tours to anyone!

I didn’t stay at the guesthouse but did book a three day tour with Bobby. I traveled with my two daughters and their partners. She arranged a guide and tour for us tailored specifically to our needs. It was no frills but a genuine experience with beautiful people. I hope to return and will definitely book a longer tour next time. They took care of our every need but let us really explore and experience Mongolia on Horseback. I cannot say enough about the kindness and hospitality they showed in caring for my family. A+

The UB guest house was one of the best hostels I've stayed in. I booked the hostel with my friend for one week and it was a great decision. First off, although the guest house is a little on the smaller side, the place was very well taken care of and the beds and couches were very comfortable. The other guests were also very friendly which made it easy to arrange for new friends to come on tours which helped to lower the costs. The hosts were also incredibly nice, helping us arrange tours and working with us to personalize the tour to fit our needs as well as arranging the transport and places we'd be staying. If you're going to visit Mongolia this is an incredible option.

Bobby and her family are very hardworking and understand what support tourists will need in Mongolia. She doesn't take a day off during high season and will happily help you with anything - which for us was booking train tickets (we could not do this from outside Mongolia). We could also not contact the lodge we had booked and she managed to finally get in touch with them and help us sort out transport to/from UB. I would absolutely use Bobby's help in the future for any Mongolia travel bookings! The guesthouse is in a great location near many museums, cafes, restaurants and convenience stores (to stock up before your trip outside of the city). Note: this is a hybrid hostel / guesthouse with shared bathrooms. It was nearly full when we were there and we often had to wait for a shower or toilet so be patient.

Cheap hostel. Booby is very helpful in helping us plan our horse riding trip in terelj park.

The bedsheets came very close to fitting.

Shower could be better and the bedcloths don't even come close to fitting, but other than that we had a good time and lot's of help and tips from the manager. The tour that we did was great as well!

Like: (1) Bobby responded to all our questions promptly before our travel. (2) Bobby and her staff were kind enough to wait until midnight for us to arrive (as our flight landed Ulaanbaatar late at night). (3) Due to an emergency (there was no hot water due to road construction), she attended to it very quickly and installed hot water for us to use the next day, and also upgraded us to a bigger room when the room we booked was no longer available. (4) The kitchen was always clean and tidy. (5) There were sufficient shower rooms and toilet rooms so I never had to wait to access those facilities, and they were always clean and tidy as well. (6) The room had a power adaptor and some clothes hangers. There were lockers to store valuables. (7) Shoes had be taken off before you enter the common room / living room and the rooms. (8) The hostel was close to a convenience store (GS24), two bakeries, ATMs, Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum, and quite close to Sukhbaatar Square. Dislike: (1) The place was a bit hard to find at first. (2) The guesthouse is on 1/F (UK system) or 2/F (US system), and there is no lift, so you would have to carry your luggage up the stairs on your own. (3) The pillow was a bit soft. (4) The room could get a bit stuffy without air conditioning or fan. (5) There was a huge desk in our room which took up a bit of space for us to open our luggage.
