Hotel Sokoline in Danilovgrad

If I was to ever visit Montenegro again, I'd spent two months in this place. Location, the team, the views, the morning jazz, the home-cooked breakfast, a strong representation of the traditional meals alongside modern ones, the peace, the size of the room and the state of the facilities, even the moskito mesh. Everything is thought through and maintained at a wonderfull level. A separate thank you to Jovan who assisted with a custom fruit request to help relieve the migrane. We were also very fortunate to experience the thunderstorm approach the valley, and spent some time witnessing the sweetest cat family living in the nearby rocks. Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Having experienced multiple hotels in the country, this, by far, is the best.

This is one great hotel. The family really loved staying here. The management team was outstanding, the restaurant staff was really friendly, and the food was great.

The hotel is situated in the hills underneath Ostrog Monastery with beautiful views all around. Great place to stay.

Wonderful family hotel with great accomodation and warm and welcoming staff. They have eye for detail, for their guests, the service and all tiny details which made our stay wonderful ( for example regarding our 2 year old). Immaculately clean, cosy and beautiful.

Lovely and good restaurant with a beautiful terrace and fine local food and beverages.

They also have a playground which made the stay for our 2year old even better.

Looking forward to returning someday..

Hotel Sokoline is truly one of the most breathtaking places we have ever visited. The view of Ostrog Monastery, the surrounding mountains, and the valley below is simply unreal, especially during golden hour when the landscape is bathed in warm light. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and peaceful, offering the perfect escape from everyday life. The staff is exceptionally welcoming, professional, and attentive to every detail. The food was outstanding, with the traditional Montenegrin breakfast being a highlight of our stay. If you are visiting Montenegro, this is a place you should not miss. We left with wonderful memories and will definitely return.

This is a very unique property. If you’re headed to see Monastery Ostrog, we highly recommend this hotel. Very convenient. The staff and the meals were excellent. However, the drive up the mountain is not for the faint hearted.

We stayed at this hotel as it was only 5 minutes drive to the Ostrog Monastery. The views from the rooms and the restaurant are phenomenal. We were greeted warmly and shown to our room, and offered a very nice welcome drink off homemade raspberry juice. The bedroom was comfortable with a balcony. We ate at the restaurant for supper and. breakfast - both were very good. The only thing I would change is the playing of a music tape in the restaurant consisting of country and pop hits - it went round pretty quickly and seemed discordant with the view and ambience…..

The views around this hotel are to die for. It’s close to the monastery that even if you wanted to walk it’s possible. After spending a night at the upper monastery it took an hour to get back to the hotel. You just have to be mindful of the cars around those sharp curves.
The restaurant upstairs is excellent and food was very tasty. Over all stay was exceptional, thanks to the front desk manager Alexandra. Thank you!

Summary of my thoughts/experience of this hotel:- On arrival we went to the restaurant by accident & the restaurant manager kindly carried my large suitcase downstairs to reception. Its a small hotel so it seems that all staff members are happy to help and that was lovely to see. Check in was prompt, friendly, efficient. Daniel had called me a week prior to confirm and he was there to greet us in person, so that was a personal touch. He directed us to Monastery. He also permitted us to check in at 11am which is earlier than many hotels would, which was nice for us. RATINGS (10 out of 10 is the best and 1 is the worst):- BATHROOM Toilet - 10 Shower - 10 Sink - 10 We had two rooms with two bathrooms and both bathrooms were in excellent working condition. ROOMS: Room ambience - stunning views of mountains, double balcony. 9/10. Bed comfort - 2 double-beds. 10/10. Room comfort - 9/10. Breakfast - a la carte. not many options, but they swapped the ham for beef. Good service. Stunning views from the breakfast terrace. 6/10 Dinner - good service. Restaurant manager kindly replaced bacon for chicken at no extra charge as we ordered a wrong dish by mistake. 10/10 All the staff seemed caring and warm and cared about Hotel which I think is very special. I loved the view from our 2 rooms and view from breakfast/inner terrace. Highly recommend.

Massive corner room - 2 x huge balconies with and awe-inspiring view of valley and Ostrog Monastery - hotel is perched precipitously on the side of the mountain. There is an amazing restaurant, service and delicious good value food on the roof top terrace with the same panoramic view - whole place has wonderful chilled atmosphere. Extremely relaxing. Wonderful a la carte breakfast (raspberry juice and local fluffy, fried dough balls amazing). Great to relax after Ostrog Monastery visit in extreme heat in August! Definitely the best place to stay of you are visiting it.
