Rainbow Safari Resort in Sauraha

I really wanted to like Rainbow Safari Resort, but unfortunately our experience fell far short of expectations. For starters, the room itself had several issues that should never happen at a resort in this price range. The door to the bathroom didn’t close properly, which was frustrating and inconvenient. Even worse, one of the window panes was missing entirely, and we had to tape it up ourselves just to keep the mosquitoes out. The buffet was another major disappointment. Unless you enjoy eating the exact same three items every single day, you’ll quickly get tired of the food. The quality was poor, and there was almost no variety, which made meals something to endure rather than enjoy. As for the activities, they sound exciting on paper but are extremely misleading. The jeep safari was nothing like what we expected. Instead of spotting big wildlife up close, we mostly looked at birds and deer from very far away. We never saw a tiger, and the only rhino sighting was from roughly 150 meters away—basically a tiny dot in the distance. Overall, Rainbow Safari Resort needs serious improvements before I could recommend it. The setting has potential, but the experience just doesn’t live up to what they promise.

I had been in this place a couple of times and had enjoyed the ambience. The last I visited was in 2018, so I went with my family without booking this time. On arrival things seemed fine, but as we began to check into the rooms things took a bad turn for us, The rooms weren't clean, the bed sheets were very dirty, and the bed made squeaky sounds every time our kids tried to sleep. We were promised breakfast in the morning, and on it they gave us an omelet and two slice of bread and that's it- in the menu they showed us set breakfast. The worst part was when my kid requested juice; they poured the packeted juice, added water, and gave it to her. Luckily, we chose safari rides from other local services in the area only to realize that the guests of this hotel paid 40 % more for the same ride. We didn't deal with the hotel owner; there was a second man at the reception, and we made all our payments with him. I am not sure if it is the guy who dealt with us or this hotel in general but we felt scammed because we paid good amount for the rooms. We checked out right away in the morning. Me and my family will never step in this resort ever again.

I was disappointed with my stay and felt like my business was not appreciated. The resort was aware of power outages and did not inform, warm or compensate for the lack of power. Often the power was out for hours when it was 39 degrees!! It was unbearable!! I was aware of the heat before arriving and made sure the resort would have a/c. I felt cheated! I also was not impressed with the jeep tour. We were crammed into a jeep with other guests from the hotel for 4.5 hours. The guide was knowledgeable but did not try to make any connections with anyone. The canoeing was enjoyable as was the walk, but perhaps it was the wrong time of day to walk. 4 - 6 pm was quite hot for walking. The staff were kind and helpful - in particular the servers. Although I didn't feel they gave enough care for the heat exhaustion we felt when the a/c was out for hours. Invest in a decent generator! Treat your staff better so they can show joy for working for you. Offer cold drinks when the a/c isn't working. Take 2 jeeps, so that your guests can enjoy the jeep safari tour. Ask your guests what kind of food they would like. Get some bikes that guests can rent or borrow. Give service that makes me want to recommend you! Good luck Rainbow!
