Pulitzer Amsterdam in Amsterdam

This blind-choice hotel, the Priest Amsterdam, was truly amazing! No two rooms were the same; it was like stepping into history. The hotel treasure hunt for the kids was a wonderful experience. The Bicycle Wall tip was that there are more bicycles than people here—15,000 bicycles are pulled from the canals every year! [laughing through tears] They even used one of the buildings, originally a chocolate factory, to make a welcome chocolate. Amsterdam is still the largest port exporting cocoa beans. The hotel's cruise ship is the same one that carried Churchill. 25 canal-side houses, the Pulitzer family story, 400 years of golden age—how fortunate we were to stay in time tonight! Definitely worth exploring for the hotel industry! [heart emoji]

Cozy Room Reservation
I was initially assigned a loft-style room. It was pretty and cozy, but it was cold.

So, I changed rooms. The one I was given was on the third floor, in the middle, so it was warm.

The breakfast was amazing. It was incredibly delicious.

Amongst the best concierge services. We misbooked the ann frank house and only found out when we went to queue. We tried to get new ones but all tickets were sold out during the holiday period. The concierge, Kilian, helped us to find tickets from his network of concierge.

Beautiful hotel design. Love the breakfast and the staff. Amazing location by the canal. We would stay here again when we come back to Amsterdam.

Excellent room, excellent location and atmosphere of the hotel.
Staff however, too often, go according to the 'book', and find it hard to think and improvise on the spot. It's as if they are under trained. When checking in there is no need to ask the guest to fill info on the iPad. You have this info, to stay in touch, already. Don't burden the weary traveler with trivial nonsense. If the sun shines, finally after weeks of grey and rain, and a guest sees the patio with tables in the sun, and this guest wants to have tea in the sun outside in the patio, this has to be a possibility. Don't say, well it's not the season so it's closed, it doesn't make sense, you're a top hotel, not the vander Valk. Improvise, think on your feet, explain that he is welcome to sit there and that his tea will be brought out, but it might take a few minutes longer. This way the guest feels listened to and that the moon is even possible.
The kitchen is incredible, the food is wonderful. Last evening I had dinner at the Jansz., two ladies working, were very kind, helpful and attentive, they understood the delicate balance between asking how things are going and leaving the guest alone. I want them to know i appreciate them. Please extend my gratitude to them. Also the Asian looking lady who worked during breakfast this morning, was excellent. Please let her know as well. Finally, the staff at the entrance - getting cabs etc. - are great. Some of the male staff are too - in Dutch, popy yoopy. I am your guest and not your friend. That's all, and that's enough.

We were there for business first then stayed with my husband.  It was a lovely hotel all around.  Perfect stay and service and bar and room and everything.

Best hotel in AMS. Bar none.
