We could not fault this place, the room was lovely (top floor, stairs only) with a decent bathroom, big comfy bed, good storage and lighting. Even BBC on TV! The room was overlooking the rear of the building and very quiet. Breakfast was the highlight - homemade yoghurt, fresh baked goods and croissants, chocolate sprinkles (a Dutch culinary must, we're told), fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, lovely coffee and tea, freshly boiled eggs, cheese and meat. What more could you possibly want? Malts is next door to a fabulous chocolate shop and on a busy street with lovely fashion stores, bakeries, not far from the main square or the other smaller squares where markets are on Fridays/Saturdays (artisan bread is a must). Restaurants and cafes are everywhere - try Oscar's for macaroons - OMG! We were recommended the café on top of the car park called, DeDAKKAS which does freshly cooked snacks, cakes and sandwiches and great veggie options. So good, we went there twice!

We enjoyed our stay and could have stayed longer. This bed and breakfast is just what you need. Clean, comfortable and great service. This is our first time staying in Haarlem and will come back again!! Henk and Annmarie are great hosts and very helpful. Henk made many recommendations and both were so knowledgeable about the area and could answer any questions.

Such a great b & b. The location couldn't be better. Very easy access to all the interesting sites. Henk and Annmarie are so friendly and helpful. They couldn't do enough for you. The rooms are great and equipped with everything you need. The breakfasts are delicious. All in all, if you're going to Haarlem (and you should), just book with the Malts. You won't be disappointed.

We had the best time! Jenn and Annmarie are so friendly and welcoming. They made us feel at home and gave us wonderful ideas to really explore Haarlem. The BnB is in the middle of town and easy to get to shops but somehow it’s still so quiet and cozy!

We have just returned from 3 nights staying at the Malts. The accommodation is spotless and really well positioned in the city. Minutes walk to the Grote Markt and close to other attractions. Henk and Annmarie were fantastic hosts, so friendly and helpful with lots of tips and advice to help you enjoy your stay in Harlem and the surrounding areas. We were cycling for two days and we received lots of information from our hosts as well as maps and tips. The breakfast was brilliant too, so much choice and all really fresh and delicious. We would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone and we will definitely be returning.

We had previously spent 10 very enjoyable but busy days with our family in various locations, after they returned home, my wife and I wanted to relax for a couple days to before we returned home. Haarlem and in particular the Malts hotel met all our expectations. Henk and Annemarie were the perfect hosts. A great source of information and recommendations. We could not fault the accommodation, the excellent breakfast and the location. Thank you Henk and Annemarie, we hope to return soon.

An exceptional hotel - spotless, very comfortable, friendly, amazing breakfast and access to tea and coffee all day in the lovely breakfast room (with a view), plus walking distance to everything as it’s right in the old town - perfect.

stupid music events that keep guests awake till 1-2 am. NO consideration for others. fire the dj and cancel the music events forever.

The staff are the nicest people you'll meet in any hotel in the area. The cafe downstairs has a very nice menu but the thing that sets it apart is the assortment of wines and the gentleman that shows them to you literally knows about every one of them and takes the time to explain each one. If you want a quaint little getaway them this is your place. I miss it already.
