City Hotel Rembrandt in Leiden

We only stayed here a night and it was comfortable enough for an evening. We got the smaller room to save some money and it definitely was a tight space. We probably wouldn't have wanted to stay here any longer than one evening. The bed was comfy enough. The most inconvenient thing was the location of the plugs being far away from the bed. Also the bathroom door was more like a closet door with shutters. Just keep this in mind if you're traveling with someone, hopefully you're really comfortable with each other!

I was pleasantly surprised by the check-in process. The hotel sent me a WhatsApp message and link to our virtual keys the day before check-in. This was my first time using this type of key and it worked seamlessly. There was no one at the desk when we arrived around 5pm and only saw a staff person when we checked out the following morning. Luckily we didn't have any issues that required staff support, but something to consider.

The location was good though we didn't explore much. It was close to the transit station (less than 10min walk) and we walked around to find a restaurant for dinner. We didn't have any issues with noise in the evening like other reviewers did but our window also faced a brick wall with emergency escape so that probably prevented us from dealing with much street noise.

3 1/2 stars. Great location. Service was okay but they're only there for a short time. Rooms are small but clean. AC was not working when we first got there but they've were able to fix the floor's AC within a couple days. Would recommend if you don't require a full service front office. Did not eat breakfast. Seemed a little pricey.

​City Hotel Rembrandt offers a stay that is a study in contrasts, blending some commendable features with a few notable shortcomings. Out recent visit, while generally pleasant, highlighted areas where the hotel excels and others where it could significantly improve the guest experience.
​The most positive aspect of the stay was undoubtedly the room itself. The space was generous and well-laid out, providing ample room to relax and unpack. It was a comfortable base from which to explore the city, and the cleanliness was of a high standard. This sense of space is a significant advantage over many city centre hotels where rooms can often feel cramped and restrictive.
​The breakfast experience was also a highlight, albeit with a slight caveat. The food that was provided was fresh and delicious, showcasing a focus on quality over quantity. The selection, however, felt somewhat limited. While tasty, a slightly wider range of options would have been appreciated to cater to different tastes and dietary needs. The term "tasty but sparse" perfectly encapsulates the feeling—you enjoyed what was there, but you were left wanting a bit more.
​The main frustrations of the stay stemmed from operational and technical issues. Being on the third floor, the Wi-Fi signal was consistently weak and unreliable. In an age where guests rely on connectivity for everything from planning their day to staying in touch.
