Fredriksten Hotell in Halden

I arrived here on a Sunday afternoon, and it was inconvenient that the restaurant was closed for dinner, so I had to take a taxi to another one.
​In the morning, when I looked at the view, the hotel's high location offered the best possible panorama. The fortress was right next door, so I walked over, and exploring it was also wonderful.
​The view, a harmony of the sea and the autumn foliage, was so beautiful that I can't forget it.
​The Norwegian-style breakfast was also a pleasant start to the day.

Everything was as I expected. The rooms were very clean. I’ve never slept in such soft and comfortable bedding before. The staff was very friendly. The area was very nice and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of products.

Absolutely enjoyed 10 days on this historic property! The property is adjacent to the fortress and the hotel is a converted Soldiers barracks.

A sense of tranquility and peacefulness surrounds you when you walk around the property. The property is well maintained and oversees the city of Halden.

The staff made my family feel like home. The staff were professional and kind; they made us feel welcomed. The staff checked on our family when we were off the property for over 24 hours to ensure we were ok and safe.

The daily breakfast buffet was delicious with an array of local, organic, cold and hot items. The dining area is clean and have the best lasagna on their dinner menu.

We plan to return to Norway and plan to return to the Fredriksten!

Easy parking and walking distance from the fort & city center. Super clean and big room with a great view. Friendly, cheerful staff and the breakfast was amazing.

There is a piece of the fort's outer wall next to the hotel, the views from picknicktable there were breathtaking.

5/5 - I would love to stay here again

(I planned to stay for 2 nights to check out the fort and go shopping in Nordby the day after. I should've stayed at least a 3rd night, because there was a lot more to do.)

Excellent location, beautiful view. The hotel provides an opportunity to relax in nature. Responsive and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and delicious meals in the restaurant. Cozy and modern room with comfortable bed and fancy bathroom. I only have a comment regarding the mini bar in the room. It didn't work and didn't cool the drinks and in the room was a little bit hot.

Basic clean rooms and it was nice to have enough shampoo and conditioner with long hair 😁 Breakfast was great. The view from the hotel is amazing. It was short way to the city centre and to Fredriksten fortress. But you need quite a good condition to walk up and down 😁. I will definitely go back.
