Hotel Phoenicia Express in Bucharest

I recently had to spend 6 weeks at this hotel for a business trip and it has to be the worst 6 weeks of my life. This is NOT a 4 star hotel! I genuinely can't remember everything that was wrong with this hotel but I'll attempt to list those that I can remember. The pool had little to no chlorine and smelled awful, the gym had no working equipment when I arrived(after complaining they acquired one working treadmill) the Jacuzzi was empty for the whole time, there was no bar other than the one in the Kasttane restaurant, the restaurant had the slowest service I have ever experienced anywhere in my life, the breakfast is advertised as a Swedish buffet...I haven't been to Sweden but I'm almost certain they don't eat hot wings, mozzarella sticks and spaghetti bolognaise for breakfast! The WiFi constantly cut out(on a daily basis!), the fire alarm would falsely go off about 3 times a week, the power would cut out for the entire hotel about once a week, the power cut out in my room about twice a week, the fridge didn't work, the aircon didn't work, the light switches buzzed loudly when pressed, the bathrooms leaked into the hallways, often mud would pour from the taps, the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, they were reluctant to give receipts or change, whenever I complained about something the manager would make a token effort to solve the problem but it would go back to normal a week later. I represented 50 colleagues who were staying in the hotel for the same amount of time as me, between us we spend over €80,000 in this hotel at least and they seemed completely unwilling to accommodate us. Do not stay at this hotel.

Well, we took the "best" appartment on this location, and we had a huge dissapointment: room were dirty, sheets broken, very bad sleep quality due to very old pillows and matraces. Far too much paid for what they offered us. Breakfast very poor! Personnel very nice, but....

Compared to Hilton, it was extremely poor value for money. The food in the restaurant was terrible, the room was not small but very basic, and the soundproofing was extremely poor; you could hear snoring from the next room. The bedside lamp's light strip was weird; I had no idea how to turn it off. The minibar was empty, but the refrigerator was very noisy, so I had to get up in the middle of the night to unplug it. The shower pressure in the bathroom was unbearably low. Overall, a terrible experience.

- the rooms and bathrooms were very dirty (none of us dared to take a shower), - the furniture is very old, - there is a window between the room and the bathroom, - the mattresses, pillows and the sheets were very old and stained, - the breakfast was poor quality, the vegetables were not fresh and many food containers were empty at 9 a.m., even though breakfast time ends at 10 a.m. - our friends found a cockroach in their room, - in our room the smoke detector was covered in plastic foil, - the mini-fridges were very dirty. We stayed in better looking 2* hotels. They should be shut down until they clean the place properly!
