old socialist establishment turned into (sort of) family hotel. About 35 min from city center by public transportation. Supermarket and some russian style food joints within 500 meters. Weird elevator, starts at first floor, be prepared to use steep and narrow stairs. But there is a pleasant garden, quiet and near the canal where you can make your own tea or coffeee

Clean, modern rooms. Great location, quiet but still central enough. Near both tourist attractions and more obscure Dostoevsky streets. Awesome staff, from reception to catering and management, everybody seems to genuinely care about the place and the guests. Highly recommended to travelers who cannot afford to stay in hotel Astoria. Or to rephrase, people who prefer to spend their money on other things, or who prefer low key and democratic lifestyles :)
