ROYAL HOTEL SEOUL Myeongdong in Seoul

The location is truly excellent, incredibly close to everything. I could easily walk to the duty-free shop, go back and forth, drop off my purchases, even head back to the hotel for a nap at lunchtime, and then continue exploring in the afternoon. My only minor complaint is that the service felt a bit cold. Overall, it was still pretty good.

The hotel location is the best, it’s located at Myeongdong. Very convenient for shopping and a lot of foods and cafe nearby. The setback is the hotel amenities is quite old but still acceptable. However, we can’t rate it as four stars level. Sorry to say that my expectation of 4 stars hotel is higher and the room space is not big. The good things is we can take limosine bus to and from airport, very convenient and save the air port transfer money.

I recently stayed at the Royal Hotel Seoul in Myeongdong, and overall, it’s a solid choice if you want convenience, comfort, and easy access to everything in the city. The location is definitely the hotel’s biggest advantage — you step right out into the heart of Myeongdong where shops, street food stalls, cafés, and subway stations are all just a few minutes away. It’s incredibly easy to explore Seoul from here.

The rooms are clean and well-maintained, though on the smaller side, which is common in busy city-center hotels. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job keeping the room tidy throughout the stay. The décor leans a bit more classic than modern, but everything functions well.

The staff were friendly and helpful, especially during check-in and when handling luggage. They responded quickly to requests and were polite throughout the stay. However, a few service inconsistencies were noticeable — nothing major, but some guests might pick up on it.

Facilities are decent but not standout. The breakfast was okay, though the selection felt limited for the price. The lounge and common areas are clean but could use a refresh. Some bathroom layouts also feel a little dated, and water pressure/temperature can vary at times.

Overall, Royal Hotel Seoul is best for travelers who want to be right in the center of the action and value convenience above everything else. If you prioritize bigger rooms or modern luxury, you might find it a bit modest. But for location, cleanliness, and a comfortable stay, it’s a reliable option in Myeongdong.

Great location, right by Myeongdong Night Market and a church, but the room was quite small.

The location is quite convenient, although the room is a bit small. The sanitation was acceptable. I chose it for its great location, but sometimes getting a car can be a bit difficult. However, there are plenty of dining and shopping options downstairs, enough to try something new every week without repetition.

However, breakfast cost was stiff with little choice of bread. Butter was unsalted. Hope in future there is cheese platter with at least 4 types of cheeses.

The biggest pros:
Strategically located in the heart of Myeongdong, you step right out into a bustling shopping street and night market. The Olive Young flagship store is downstairs, and there's a Starbucks right at the entrance. The subway station is a convenient 7-minute walk away, making it easy to get around.

The cons:
The room size is surprisingly small, making it a bit cramped when opening luggage. Soundproofing is also just average. Plus, showering inside the bathtub is quite inconvenient.

They don't provide complimentary disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste; they cost about 6,000 KRW each. However, they do offer shampoo, hand soap, shower gel, and body lotion, which all smell pretty good.

Overall, this is a typical hotel that excels in location. If your main focus is shopping and food, and you plan to spend most of your time outside the hotel, then it's quite suitable.
