X-TRA Hotel

By far the noisiest place I've ever stayed in, I was kept awake for hours by extremely loud electronic music from a club in the same building. The building was literally thumping until at least 3am.

This was not the only issue, the building and room were old fashioned and gloomy, few facilities and no communal space. Other rooms on the floor seemed to be used as offices and storage - probably a better idea then expecting people to sleep here.

I was due to stay for two nights but left after the first, booking another hotel at great expense, but it was worth it to get out of here. I wouldn't stay here again for free.

The only good thing was the location and access to public transport. But I realized there were many more less expensive options but very far from this place which also had better sound proofing. First they allocated a smoking room despite the fact that we never asked for one. The room stank and on request they were kind enough to move us to another one. The rooms were not heated enough and with sub zero temperatures, it didn't help. The trams run until late in the night and start early in the morning and you can hear the trams and some cars honking. When we complained about the noise, the receptionist had the audacity to ask me to use cotton and shove it in my ears. Yeah... Like I didn't know that. I don't pay so much to hear such things. The cob webs and the mould on the bathroom wall were big put off.
