Pom Pom Residence in Hua Hin

Not sure what people are bitching about on their reviews for this place, the Highway Hotel is fine for the money. I am here for a month and in a 3rd floor room in building A looking directly onto the busy road. Yes, there is road noise, but cheap earplugs take care of that. I have a balcony, which I wasn't expecting, so that's a bonus. The bed is large and firm, perfect for me. The hotel comprises of three very different buildings. C is closest to the small swimming pool. Unfortunately, so far, the pool has been ruined for me by other guests chain smoking and vaping. It's a small confined area, so impossible to get away from the smell. Building B is sandwiched between A & C.

I took a long walk on my first day all the way down to the Hilton, a round-trip walk that took 7 hours with a stop for coffee and grocery shopping. Highway Hotel has a 7/11 right next-door, but I prefere to shop in Villa Stores. There is also a Big C at Blueport mall. So far, I have discovered 3 very different Starbucks, and countless independent coffee shops, I am a caffeine addict. Seafood restaurants abound and of course, there is the infamous Night Market. I have been visiting Hua Hin for years and always eat well while I am here. There are excellent Thai restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, the good kind, the places where locals eat, and there are also loads of mobile streetfood vendors. So far, the beach which is a pleasant 20 minute stroll away has been completely covered by hightide, the peak tide coinciding with daylight hours right now. Hanging out at the Hilton's pool for my chill time solved that problem for me today before the long walk back. But, I walk because I want to, not because I have to. There are cheap taxis, especially ones booked through Bolt app, and an even cheaper baht bus option that's beyond affordable at 15 baht per ride.

Clean rooms with AC, kettle, hot water and a little fridge. Private parking and swimming pool. 7/11 is right next door. Very close to the road but a little bit inside so it's very quiet and nice. Great rooms for it's price 👍
